More firings are coming, I can feel it in my moobs.

Too many people spending too much time with HR people, past 5pm too.

HR does not work past 5pm unless something big is brewing.

HR lives deep into the suburbs and generally likes to take the 4:45pm train.

HR is where the human spirit goes to die.

Happy Tuesday all.

. Who is in with HR? executives?

Yah, our new VP of Marketing was in there for hours yesterday. When I left a bit past 6pm, she was still in the VP of HR's office. Both have families and are past their social-climbing, workaholic days.
. "Vp of marketing". We had a similar position...really an axe man is disguise.

How long was she in there? Any chance just discussing her benefits package or something?

Edit. Nm u said for hours

Our VP is cool, she was just promoted to that job from mere Director of Marketing. My team still reports directly to her, so it's like we all got bumped up one level (but not really.)
Well that's good...I think.

Good luck. I know how sucky that is....even if it's not your job at stake...but I've said that before.

Our layoffs spanned the course of a year after we merged. It was a shitty year.

Ahhhhhh. I remember the "Do you have a minute?" Best thing that ever happened to me, but it sucked at the time...they offered to have someone box up my stuff to make it "easier on me." Fuck that. I made the company attorney stand there while I took apart 16 years of desk stuff.

I knew it was coming for a year...but I still cried like a baby for a couple days. I don't know why...pride I guess...even though I knew it was that they just didn't want to pay me like the old company did. That kind of stuff happens every day...I just hate the way they have to lead people to believe they are "safe," until they don't need them anymore.

Here they don't give you a choice. You're not allowed back to your desk. They box up all your shiz and courier it to you.

Would love to see their faces when they box up my 5 pairs of shoes, ping pong balls, 2 Halloween costumes, one motorcycle windshield and other miscellany.

There is literally nothing work-related in my drawers.

Hahaha We had a girl like that in accounting. She had been there maybe 10 years? Huge cubicle COVERED with decorations, troll dolls...shit tons of stuff..the joke was that they wouldn't fire her cuz she had too much shit to box up... but they did.

They had a meeting with my HR friend and she knew it was happening that day (she got let go a couple of months later right AFTER they promoted her and gave her her own office...assholes) I saw her in the hall that day and I could just tell it was imminent. They tried to encourage me to let someone else box up my desk, but I was not having any of that.

They had to have an office meeting for damage control that afternoon, because the tribes were restless about how it was handled. Especially because the entire legal department knew that I was told the day before my job was safe. They fought for me even after I was gone...that made me feel good to hear that.

This wage-slaving thing is a little degrading sometimes.

When I feel down, I remind myself that a lot of people here have it way worse than me.

I've mentioned it before, but our receptionist is called a "First Impressions Specialist".
