Any of these could make a deep run but highly unlikely for any small one to win it though, it's just too much
 
The thing is Spain didn't come in nearly as good as they were 4 years ago, so Netherlands is good but not at the level people are imagining. Argentina, France, Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Spain you can interchange whoever on the top 6, with Germany slight ahead of of the pack. Look at Brazil drawing with a very mediocre Mexico.

The World Cup is Germany and 31 other teams, it always was and always will be.

So what to you want to see before a penalty kick is called? Someone getting karate kicked in the face and blood coming out of his ears? Or some defender diving to punch the ball with his hand? Then you will see 1 penalty kick every 100 games.

I would like to see a legitimate penalty.

They should either do video review or make the kick farther away.

If they make the kick further away then every time someone has even a small chance to score he will be held from the arms, or kicked or being brought down by the goalkeeper. It's 12 yards away from goalie. If it is 20 yards away from goalie even I can block it. You can see the ball and dive to block it or have time to take a few steps up after the kick and block the angle.

Just do me a favor. Go to your local park and try to kick the ball from outside the box (16-20 yards) without a goalie and see how many shots you can aim at the corner just by the post with maximum force kicks. It ain't easy.

Most times the refs get it right. Out of all the pk's so far in the World Cup only one was not called correctly.
 
I thought that call Brazil got today soon after halftime was BS, he hardly got touched. It had little impact but still it was terrible. Even the announcer said "looks like someone said something to the ref at halftime". Mexico played their asses off especially the goalie and I would have been jacked if that acting job decided the game.

Then make it 15 yards away. They score every single time. It shouldn't be that easy.
