We're talking about my post about bananas? Like I really didn't know you could go to the grocery store and buy just bananas? And I got in my car and drove to the next town to find out?

People born without a sense of humor ---> difficult to work with.

Gotta say nectarines ---> no go based on the budget. ~$1.50 per serving. :redx:

Bananas are great - 30 cents each. :greencheck:

Bag of red prince apples - ~60 cents each :greencheck:

Grapes are okay on the recent sale price ~75 cents per serving. :greencheck:

Regular price grapes though, unfortunately :redx:

Kiwis at the regular price I've been seeing - over a buck per serving :redx:

Pineapple is actually not bad. ~60 cents per serving :greencheck:

Cherries, no way :redx:

I which I actually liked bananas more.

speaking of that

went on a beer tour of Lagunitas yesterday

the guy said that for every 12 ounces of beer they produce and gets delivered to their destinations, it takes 4 ounces of diesel

that seems way out of wack

that can't be right?

I'm sure the diesel used calculation includes all sorts of plastics used in production, the rubber in the tires, the diesel used in transporting the tonnage of hops, the diesel used in generating electricity by the municipality then wired to the factory (and the corporate offices too), etc. etc. etc.

found a quote from the guy who started the company

this must be what the tour guide was referring to

PETALUMA, CA - The Lagunitas Brewing Company of Petaluma CA is moving forward with the construction of a second brewing facility in the crossroads of the US; Chicago Illinois. Carl Sandburgs City of Big Shoulders will be home to a new ROLEC-built 250 barrel kettle and 200,000 barrels of initial capacity. The brewery will be operating by the 4th quarter of 2013, and will occupy 150,420 square feet on the grounds of the CineSpace Movie Soundstage complex at 15th Street and Rockwell in Chicagos Douglas Park neighborhood.

According to Lagunitas founder and CEO, Tony Magee, the idea got very real in the last 2 months. A few days spent with a calculator and a couple more visiting sites around the city crystalized the plan. I was born and raised in Chicago so the siting questions were easy to figure out. But the real driver behind it all was two-fold; first, I realized that there was about 4 ounces of diesel in every 22oz bottle of our beer when enjoyed in Chicago, even more if youre in NYC. Secondly, the future of Craft Beer is, we believe, local and we sure want to be a part of the future so the decision was easy. One of the best things about craft brewing is being close to the people who are digging it.

this really does have like 4 oz of real diesel
