What's the story with the teddy bears?

There is in fact a wikipedia entry for it

A teddy bear toss is a popular Christmas season promotion at many minor and junior hockey arenas throughout North America. Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears to the game, and to throw them onto the ice when the home team scores its first goal. The toys are then gathered up to be donated as Christmas presents to hospitals and charities . . .

Jaromir Jagr scored a goal to tie Marcel Dionne for 4th place on the all-time goal list.

Marcel Dionne was a great player that doesn't get talked about much. At least I assume he was a great player. He played in L.A. back in the days before we had the extreme coverage of everything that we have today - so I didn't actually see him much.

But I could tell from his hockey cards that something was going on.

He started his career in Detroit. Anyone who grew up in that era, or at least was a teenager (70's and 80's) who didn't know or or heard of Dionne must have been living under a rock.

I only remember Dionne as a fading old man in the late 80's.

Staggering numbers in the late 70's/early 80's, just before Gretzky exploded. Consecutive seasons of 59, 53, 58, 50 and 56 goals. Ten 40+ goal seasons.

The Kings uniform from that era makes for some unfortunate-looking memorabilia.
