Seriously, today ends what may have been the most memorable decade in history, certainly in our lifetime.

On the sporting side of things look at what we have witnessed.

The amazing comeback of the Red Socks over the Yankees.
The Red Socks winning the World Series.
Vince Young's performance in the National Title game, maybe one of the best individual performances of all time on that scale.
Florida Gators back to back NCAA Basketball Titles.
Lady Huskies 90 straight wins.
Lance Armstrong's DOMINANCE in the Tour de' France (albeit probably enhanced) after cancer.
Boise St's shocking victory over Oklahoma that set off all the BCS debates.

On a more real and world view look at all we have witnessed.

Hurricane Katrina
The Tsunami
The earthquake in Haiti
9/11
The United States electing a black president
Terrorism raised to unprecedented levels both domestic and foreign

These are but a few of the things just off the top of my head, there are plenty more. Can you ever remember a time in history where a decade saw so many events that changed, amazed or shocked us?

If the trend is to always go bigger, what can we possibly endure in the decade to come? Will there even be a decade to come or will it all end as the Mayan's predicted?

I don't understand why people call Obama a black president. His mother was 100% white, right? I went to a school that was predominantly black. So him being of mixed race doesn't suggest to me that he is black. Good list though Wally.

The 60's look like they were a lot more volatile. Just my opinion.

2012? Common, are you PiMike?

Whether this decade was special or not I think this is a great thread idea. Until Wally mentioned it I had forgotten that this was an end of the decade.

What will this decade be called? We had the 80's the 90's.......what the hell is this decade?

edit: Archie is right.

I mean technically I think today might be the last day of the decade, I forgot what the whole argument panned out to be true in the 1999, 2000 millenium debate.

I know there was no year zero on the calender... but in my mind it is simple

you wouldn't call 1980 part of the 70's just as you wouldn't call 1990 part of the 80's and so on... so why would we call 2010 part of the 000's

Cougar, Obama is black. If it quacks like a duck, it's a duck. Cougar, call me. We need to do a wine video the second Sunday of January.

Well, you are gonna make my point here. He doesn't really act black. Not that there aren't intelligent, well-spoken, Harvard lawyers that are black. I am sure there are plenty. Obama would not have gotten elected if he didn't act and sound, for the most part, white. And, like I said, last time I checked he was a mixed race president. But if someone can prove otherwise, please feel free.

Daft we could do a wine thread, you open your bottle I will open mine, both do vids, could be gay as hell.
