they would have to give up compensation for?

Like obviously the Jays should try and get the most they can for him but basically I'm thinking: help yourself.

Maybe see if we can sell them some pliers while we're at it.

LOL! The fascination of having to give up compensation for manager, coaches, whatever is perplexing to me .......... I agree Muddy, get whatever you can for him!
 
Trout's a better player overall, and helped his team win more.

but for old school sakes give the MVP to Miggy...

even if RBI is a dumb dumb stat, and the other 2 kinda random, you gotta give it to the guy that did something no one in 40 years has done.

Trout will no doubt win many of his own in coming years.

Ah, but will he?

Whenever I see a comment like that it always brings back a memory. Don't know why I have clung to that memory so much. I guess it is for situations just like this.

Watching a ball game on TV in the mid-80's. Good pitchers' duel between a couple of young guys just coming into their own, Dave Steib and Rich Dotson. Long story short, at some point the announcer says something like, "They just missed out in the Cy Young voting last year but they will both have at least one before all is said and done."

It certainly seemed like a reasonable expectation at the time but were there ever any Cy Youngs between those two? Nay fleabag!



So yeah.

But there is some particular thing you are looking for. Based on the fact it relates to my post you quoted, I'll lob out a guess: they have all finished 2nd in a Cy Young voting?
