Red Sox after Marlin Byrd. So much for winning. Cubs will even throw in Soriano.

FW, just looked at Soriano's deal and he gets 18 mil for 2 more years after 2012 with a no-trade clause! Unreal!

Always thought this guy would be a star but seems to just be out there for the money. Don't see him day-in-day-out like you so maybe it's his casual style! :dunno:

Going into tonight, he has no extra base hits this year, not good for a cleanup hitter. The biggest knock is he tries to hit a 3-run HR on every AB, no matter the situation. You don't have to throw him a strike to get him out.

Totally different eras

Pitchers threw way harder in the Mays era

There were 9 HOF pitchers in Ruth's era. 4 of them pitched for the Yankees.

Then there's that whole defense and base running stuff.

Mays > Ruth overall.

I took into account Ruth's pitching and how much he higher his stats were over his peers. For Mays to put those numbers in Candlestick is amazing.

did anyone else realize that MLB teams can now have an extra roster spot on days they have a doubleheader?

I heard something about it in the off season, but I think theres more to it, has to be approved by mlb headquaters and I think you need to give 48 hr notice. So wouldn't work for a night game that was canceled, and you wanted to play a double header the next day.
