oh wow, I wasn't aware of this MrMonkey

any idea if the phils will put thome at 1b once a week?

I think for sure and if he's hitting well maybe twice! Plus Wigginton will be playing alot! Guy will fill in at 3B, 2B, and 1B I'm thinking! I mean not only with Utley but what if Polanco is not able to play every day anymore?

Questions aside IMO Phillies better this year on paper! More depth with 6-8th inning relief, better closer, and team has versatile bench when 2011 Phils had no bench! Pierre or Podsednik probably won't make team! Sure hope Pierre makes it!

Big thing Manual has been saying is his preaching to team this spring bout being more patient at the plate! Like myself and every other local fan has been saying the last 2-3 years! But teaching these old dogs new tricks might go on deaf ears!

It didn't happen but IF they knock out Sanchez early after the Utley altercation in game 6 of the 2010 NLCS and Madsen doesn't give up winning HR in 9th a home game 7 in Philly happens! If Lee doesn't cough up a 4 run lead against the Cards last year the Phils lead the NLDS 2 games to 0!

IF can be said alot but the Phillies were closer than one might think to getting it done! Lost to 2 teams that were playing unreal! Everything being said even if Phils hitting doesn't come close to what it used to be, starting pitching will keep them in the hunt!

Chase Utley hasn't stepped on the field or even batted a single time yet this spring! Phils brass says no big deal but I don't believe it!

Whatever degenerate arthritis condition he has it appears he doesn't have a full tank of gas! Crossing my fingers on this one! Can't have this issue with your supposedly #3 hitter!

Utley Update:

Chase Utley left camp on Monday because his chronic right knee condition remains a problem. It's not good news for the Phillies, who seem likely to open the season with Utley on the disabled list.

Manager Charlie Manuel offered a candid assessment of Utley's health late last week when he said, "His problem is not going away. More than likely, it maybe never goes away." Manuel added: "Will he ever be 100 percent? I don't know about that. He might never be that."

Wigginton played in more games last 2 years than Utley! Chase only had 11 HR and 44 RBI in 2011 with 39 BB in 103 games! Wigginton defensive liability big time at 2B so Phils hoping Freddie Galvis or Martinez possible can play at 2B unless their bats are unproductive!

If your ever going to play small ball, 2012 is the time!

Matt Cain gets 5 yr 112.5 mil extension! Phillies better stop playing with wanting Hamels to take only 4 years or whatever! If Cole wants 5, give him 5!

Cain's signing should convince Phils Gm Amaro that he better have a 5 yr 120 mil deal on the table soon! IMO he is better than Cain for the long haul! Hamels now has effective 3rd pitch (cutter) going for him and curve is getting better! Plus he has that competitive drive of wanting to win and be the best!

Usually suspects of teams will come calling and who knows what they will spend if Hamels has another good year! And then the Dodgers might be added to the list! Hamels seems to be a laid back SoCal type of guy except when he's on the mound!

are the Phils already paying a luxury tax every year on their team salary?

I'd say Hamels seems a better investment due to his left-handedness alone, since the have similar stats...

Phils must have set a record already on most expensive staff/pen in baseball history....

I'm sure its between them and some yanks team from last decade
