It is still not finalized whether or not the NHLers will go to the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang. I am leaning more and more to the NO side (in terms of what I predict, not what I want. I definitely want them there.) But business-wise the Olympics have been a terrible deal for the NHL going back to 1998. Ridiculous really.

Like hey, why don't you interrupt your whole schedule for 3 weeks and risk injury to your best players, and in exchange you will get some vague, undefinable amount of publicity maybe. :muddy:

But also, I guess it pleases a lot of elite players.

But anyway, with the World Cup up and running, I could definitely see 2018 being the year the NHL says a flat NO to the Olympics. If for no other reason, to make a point and force a sweetening of the deal for future games. Give those IOC lummoxes a kick in their big, fat, complacent asses.

gonna try to watch some hockey today. Wanna see what the hoopla with the NA team is all about. And also if Russian team gonna show anything.
Biggest hope is Panarin as far as I can see. Where's Radulov anyway? I don't think he's playing.

pretty much what I expected in that one. Kids look good at times but make many mistakes. Czechs look lumbering, play a lot in their end but counterattack well and patiently. Kinda like they did that year they won the Olympics. Perhaps they'll have a good run in this one

The real stuff starts tomorrow !!!

Not totally loving some of the start times given my shift at work. Will have to listen to some of those games on the radio driving home and then watch the end when I get here - or possibly try a avoid-hearing-a-score-and-watch-from-the-start-when-I-get-home - not sure how that will work out - would rather just watch every second live - but whatever, gotta live with it.

For the first time in Gamelive history Canadiens and Americas will band together to root for our continent.

Still gonna have my eye on you guise. Don't take our kindness as weakness.

I assume you are talking about the U23 team - which is very cute and hard to dislike no doubt. But speaking for myself, I am Team Canada all the way. If Canada comes up against that U23 team I will be cheering for the youngsters to be squashed like one adorable little speedy peppy bug.

USA is enemy #1.

:fearpanic:

Dammit you asshole hosers are ganging up on me again!!

No other USA hockey fans here!??!?

Good grief.

I got your back dawg.

Blitty there's an equation which has an answer that is eluding me and it is

(number of teams that made the nhl playoffs last year)-(number of teams from canada)=I keep coming back to (number of teams that made the playoffs last year)?

That's not making sense, they ALL missed??

My math must be off. I have a calculator RIGHT HERE.
