How come you never embraced PK??

Buncha racists around here.

You mad? I toadally embraced PK. Gold medal winner. You win a gold medal in hockey for Canada - you get embraced by Mudcat. I don't care if you're a part-time, low-minutes back-up. You get fucking embraced.

I'd like to see you try it: win a gold medal in hockey for Canada and not get embraced by me.

Go ahead. Try it.

TRY IT!!!

Czech Republic 8 pm.

Czechia, if you will.

I actually tried that. I was doing a sporcle quiz where an answer was Czech Republic - and I typed in Czechia - because of the news awhile back that they were going to that so they would have a 1 word name like most everyone else - so I tried it in a sporcle just to see if there was an indication of current status and whatnot.

Well it took it.

Czechia. It's a thing.

And they play Canada at 8 pm in the World Cup of fucking Hockey. It's on!

Oh man I am getting so psyched. Without getting into a weighing of the relative virtues of this versus an Olympic tourney - I'll leave that debate to others - this stuff is the biggest thing possible in sports for me.

Rules for classification: If two teams tie, then the result of their game breaks the tie.

If there is a three of four-way tie then all games are considered and then: 1) Total of regulation and OT wins; 2) Regulation wins only; 3) Goal Differential; 4) Total goals scored

Well. A little surprised at this early game. Maybe more than a little.

Thinking back on pre-tournament chatter, some "experts" were questioning decisions made by the US in assembling their roster - particularly not enough focus on scoring. That is looking valid right now.

However those same experts were still looking at US as being probably for the gold medal series so :dunno:

Man I'm old. Scott Oake is talking to Drew Doughty about when he was growing up and his family would take a special yearly trip to see the Leafs "in this building."

And I'm thinking, 'Oake you idiot. Obviously that would have been Maple Leaf Gardens. This is the Air Canada Centre.'

But no, Oake was right. Drew Doughty is a full grown adult whose childhood memories are at the ACC.

Old as fok, me.

what about ot loss?

I'm not quite sure what you are asking here but as it relates to the post you quoted, if USA does not win against Canada then obviously best case scenario for them is beat the Czechs - so they would have 1 win. So basically they would need to have a team go 3-0 and everyone else in their pool to be 1-2. Then they have a chance depending on the tiebreakers which include OT losses etc.

The game is not an absolute must-win for USA.

But I'm boldly saying no, the Canada game is a must-win for them. Lose and that other shit will not work out for them and no.

Is what I'm boldly saying.
