Stevey, some advice.

Stop talking about and thinking about luck.

Every single post you mainly just talk about how lucky you or your opponents were, how unlucky you were, etc.

Yes, there are certain spots that luck plays a major role in the outcome. But you are never going to improve just blaming all of your losses on bad luck and your wins on deserving it.

From what you've shared it seems you've been super lucky in a bunch of spots. And also some bad luck. It evens out.

You should be focused on whether or not you played the hand optimally, not whether you won or lost. You are playing these 8-10 hour sessions and don't have any interesting spots to share?

Look for mistakes in your game and try to correct them.

Sorry to hear about the tough session, good luck next weekend.

Hey Steve you should critic his lack of a comedy channel pal, Jesus fuckin’ Christ Dave talk about condescending constructive criticism by you 😁.

I hear you man but with all due respect Davey is my buddy, his comedy is excellent, and he brings up good points! Nothing wrong with constructive criticism imo and the man knows what entertains. The thread isn't very entertaining to poker players without "what would you do here" spots.

I have a few that I'll try to remember from this weekend, including what's most likely my worst, dumbest, most unexplainable, and most expensive fuck up in all my years of playing. It will be humiliating and I wasn't going to share it, but I keep things honest (if anything TOO honest)

Anyway.

But shit, I keep it on the real, so get your popcorn ready and get ready for a big "what in the FUCK?" laugh (to me it's a cry - almost).

:popcorn

As embarrassing as it is I'll feel a little better if I vent.

I hope.

Alright since you vouch for him being humorous, let me watch more of his channel only viewed a couple & didn’t chuckle.

We get hit hard today as nothing but bad spots and bad luck. We lose a good portion to a crazy squeeze betting maniac that turns the nut str8 as we turn top 2 pair, among other ugly losing spots vs him. This guy finished by calling all in with AK off pre flop for over $600 and beating aces, then running off. Then the poor lady he beat was doing $400 flips and lost.

Heavy stuff.

Don't quit your day job, as they say.
I guess when I see this bottom line I tell myself “free entertainment”. You say Davey knows how to entertain, but like you said I guess he’s not a poker head and he doesn’t see the entertainment value in any kind of even plus bottom line session.

Ok.

This happened.

THIS FUCKING HAPPENED. I can't believe it did, but it did. Don't bother to tell me to stop playing because it won't happen. For now at least. Or you (speaking to anyone) but it won't matter.

Ok so we are at a 1/3 table and there is a total maniac with like two grand in front of him. This guy called all in for $500 with pocket sizes, landed a set, as well as other crazy shit.

We win a couple medium pots and we're working with like $700.

We were very hungry and not feeling that great. Tired, headache, grumbly stomach, etc.

We turn a nut flush (on a four suited board with AK off), he bets $15 and we flat call. The river pairs the board and he bets $115. We snap call since it's him, and of course he semibliuffed on a four suited board he had nothing to do with, and landed the boat. So down to about $600 and not happy.

Here comes the bomb. Ready?

We have pocket 9's, black, in the hole.He raises preflop to like $35, we flat call along with two others.

The flop comes K93 with two hearts. He raises to $125, and the other two opponents fold. I figure he has a big king or is on the flush draw, so a big reraise is in line here, hoping he repops. I make it $255. He shoves and obviously I snap call.

He flips pocket kings and we look at the board and muck (I never show my cards).

I say to the lady next to me "Jesus, I had pocket nines there, this guy is lucky as heck". She says "Are you serious? There were two nines on board so you were good AND good for the high hand (high hand bonus at Rivers is $1k on Friday and Saturday nights)". A couple people, including the dealer are like you didn't see that? You mucked quads!

Everyone was very respectful (if anything, overly so) of my very expensive, super stupid moment.

SO. We take the $600 we lost, the $600 we would've won AND the $1k high hand bonus (they would've held) and that is a $2,200 MUCK.

That shit happened and I've been thinking about it since. Every time I think about it I just shake my head. $2,200 wouldn't change my life much, but that is a GOOD chunk of change to MUCK, for a guy like me.

I actually feel a little better about it (for now) sharing it and laughing at myself.

Go ahead and make fun of me (anyone), I deserve it. That has to be one of the stupidest poker moments in the history of the FUCKING planet, and I'll remember it as long as I'm around.

I wasn't drunk, on drugs nor did I have a babe's hand down my pants so there is no excuse.

Just have to move on as best as I can and not let it affect my play is about it.

Sincerely,

Dumbass Mucker Fucker

Ok, here's a spot for anyone interested.

We have a different maniac at the table. Almost any time anyone raises to $20 he makes it $75, and continues betting, like he has the nuts every time. He's pushed our top pair out a few times. He lost one big pot probably on a draw but has won a few big ones since. He has about $700.

Anyway we're sitting with about $500 and we limp with K3 suited. Everyone limps. We check, looking for him to bet. He does, $55. Everyone else folds, we smooth call looking for action. Turn is a 4, we both check. River is a 9, he raises to $155.

Do call, raise, or fold?

Different spot, same opponent.

I will provide outcomes if anyone guesses or if enough time goes by.

We have A10 off suit in the hole. We raise to $25 since he's to our left and he's our only caller. Flop is A,62 rainbow. We bet $35 and he calls. Turn is a 10 giving us two pair, and we bet $55, he calls. River is a Q and we bet $75, he reraise to $255.

Your move?

Sorry you don't like my videos and my comment here.

It definitely wasn't meant as a slight. Obviously Stevey can post whatever he wants however he wants.

Was legitimately just trying to help. Complaining about (and being concerned about) luck and being results oriented are very detrimental to improvement. Since Steve is playing every weekend and seems to want to take the game seriously, I gave him some feedback.

Text doesn't always properly convey intent. And I knew Stevey would know I meant nothing bad by it so I didn't sugarcoat it or anything.

You didn't mention what flop was.

We should not be limping K3 suited, this is just an open fold at a table with a maniac like this. We've got to tighten up our range.

Stevey, so hard to read that my friend. Super super gross. Glad you seem to be taking it okay.
Appreciate it brother. Still pissed as fuck at myself, but no matter how I feel or what I do those cards ain't coming back.

Luckily I still won't be going broke and the job is going well so gotta take it with a grain of salt. Tough for me because bad luck is one thing, but mistakes are another, and that is a MONSTER one.

All we can do is move on and do the best we can moving forward.

Crystal clear call.

We can't fold monsters against maniacs. If he has us beat this time, he has us beat. So be it. When facing maniacs with super wide ranges, you often have to call light and just be ready to lose when they actually have it.

This isn't even a light call, we have a huge hand. If he has a set or straight or AQ or whatever, good for him. This call is profitable in the long run.
