In the simplest terms, they offer publishing, promotion and distribution.

Not even clear at this point what their vision might be for my stuff. The guy that reached out is mostly focused on original music for cable shows. It was a pretty general sort of email.

Let's see if I can keep them on the hook and get something to happen. Given that my expectation was zero, anything is gravy.

Very briefly. I called but he was doing a shitload of shit in Nashville and was really in no position to get into a discussion.

Which could lead one to ask why he asked me to call yesterday at all - but no matter.

Will gab on the weekend.

So the big question now is - what next?

Time to embark on a new project. Enough lollygagging.

I think I need someone to talk me out of writing a novel. It is the natural choice for me. It is already started in my head.

But it feels on par with starting up a buggy whip company.

Of course it wouldn't just be a novel. It would be clearly, unmistakably designed with a movie or possibly a TV series in mind. That concept is not so out-dated.

And there actually is demand for novels anyway. Maybe they're not as much of a thing as they once were, but they're still a thing. They're not buggy whips.

I think I talked myself into the novel.

I was rooting for the wrestling thing.
Just read up on Happy Humphrey, look at this guy

Happy Humphrey looks happy.

Yeah the wrestling thing just fell apart through no glitch of my own. I would have done it.

But, as I believe I predicted, the work habits of the co-conspirators didn't come through. I'm glad that was revealed early and I didn't put in a lot of time and then have them fizzle out.

There are people with the patience and discipline to do detailed, long-term projects. And then there are most people.

is it Killed by a Human?

No. I mean, who knows what it will end up being called? - and there will certainly be ridiculous comic violence - but it's nothing like what I have occasionally dabbled in here under that name.

In my head at this point, it's kinda like Candide meets Game of Thrones. I mean thematically; it is not set in olden times. It is on another planet. But there are a bunch of separate little societies - that sometimes end up having to deal with each other. And some of them have people that really like to whoop on each other.

If you had a blog going, I would read it. BLOG?

I wonder if Happy Humphrey is really that happy or it's all a front.

Oh Happy Humphrey.

The novel will definitely be a lot easier to market than the CD/album. There is almost no market for non-performing songwriters in alternative rock. Makes sense. Alternative rockers write their own stuff. Basically always.

But comedy novels/screenplays/teleplays? Sure, it will still be a longshot but at least those are things that are being published and produced all the time.
