So I have this music project I've been working on

I am sparing the board the full blow-by-blow of this insanely slow and fussy process. Burning the stuff to CD and listening to it on a couple of CD players rather than just on headphones straight from the recording program - which is what I had mostly been doing - was a very revealing - rather shocking and scary - exercise. It pointed to a need for some serious remixing.

That's pretty much done now although I will take the weekend to fine-tune and finalize the mix.

Muddy my personal experience with recording (whether in studio or making a recording or mixing or whatever) is as the artist you'll never be happy and at some point eventually you will have to say okay this is good enough. Either that or you are going to end up going Axl Rose on it and take 17 years to release it.

So the music is all done. Just a few final details.

I guess I should make a label for the CD's. A few people want CD's. I guess there is probably an Avery label for that.

I also have it in mp3 format for uploading but I have had a bunch of suggestions thrown at me for where to do that. I don't know what's what.

Distrokid
ITunes
Amazon
Spotify
reverbnation
bandcamp

Anyone have any thoughts on that?

:dunno:

Gotta do CD's. So gotta do labels. And gotta do sleeves. So bought all the supplies. But of course I don't want to just handwrite on them. It's a kit with software. Gotta figure out how that works. Then gotta decide on a fokken design. I need some fokken art.

Then there's the Bandcamp site. Cuz a couple people suggested they might prefer MP3's. Cuz only really old people even know what CD's are any more. People got Ipods or whatever. So gotta figure out how that works. First stab did not go well. But I'll keep bashing at it. And it looks like I need some art for that too.

It can be the same art but the point is, I don't know how to do art.

Everything leads to more stuff.

There's your art. Comes with instant brand recognition.

What kind of art are you looking for? Like a full cd cover image? I have an idea based on what I have heard and our conversations.

I would like to be added to the list for MP3s. One super easy I can think of to convert, is to upload said song to youtube, then convert to mp3, then take down from youtube. From there, you can download said mp3 to your computer. Probably not the way you want to go, but super easy. I would think Rog might know how you could easily convert to mp3's, I mean really, once you convert to MP3's, you can send those to people via email, or thumb drive, a selling site, or whatever. You may be able to even create your own site to sell it on.
Like I said before though, if you are looking to sell your music, I would do some research on each company and see whom will charge you the least to sell on their site.
