I don't actually care as much as everyone thinks I care I'm just arguing a point, which I'm pretty sure is valid.

As far as I'm concerned he's just another dead actor who made a couple good films.

Most of the good things he did were through giving of time and money to charities which I respect, because not everyone does that.

Suicide is a selfish act by definition but I don't get as freaked out about it as a lot of people. If you feel that crappy - that crappy - I consider it the definition of a situation where selfishness is justifiable.

What I would find distastefully selfish is anyone who thinks that someone who is in that much emotional pain has a duty to live with it indefinitely just to avoid upsetting their delicate feelings.

Like I expect you to live for years, perhaps decades, in misery because suicide is a bit more shocking to me than whatever other way you're going to die.

That, to me, would be egregious selfishness.

I don't see it. In fact its common for people not wanting to burden family etc.

guy got taken by his ex's... had to start selling off everything he owned and go back to tv... deep depression, heartbreak and out of the kind of money that has supported his lifestyle...throw in the fact he was obviously back on the sauce and whatever else and you got yourself a suicide waiting to happen... anyone thinking the guy checked into a rehab joint just to "focus on his continued commitment to staying sober" needs to check themselves in somewhere for being so damn gullible

worst part about all this is i will have to read/hear about how great of a comedian he was... i thought he was fucking awful... never liked any comedy roles or stand up and has always been the most overrated comedian to me... he was solid in some drama roles though
