In all seriousness, this is pretty fucking disturbing to me. A suicide so late in life seems scarily irrational, even worse when it's a wildly successful person like RW.

Fuck man.

Disagree, I had an uncle commit suicide a few years ago, he was 54. He was single, middle aged and very intelligent.

We had many long conversations - heart to heart talks where he said he was unhappy with every aspect of his life and that he feared old age and the accompanying misery more than death. I know exactly what he meant as I feel the same way.

I've watched my parents get old and am now getting to see how much shit they have to deal with as elderly people.

As my old man says " getting old sucks, plommer".

(But he doesn't call me plommmer)

I dunno... I think a suicide late in life is less irrational than one earlier in life. He had struggled with depression and addiction his entire life. He was just back in rehab like a month or two ago in Minnesota....saw him on Ellen and I think he had some heart problems.

The desperation and darkness that leads anyone to this end is very sad. A good friend took his life a few months back. ...he kind of reminded me of RW actually. And I never would have guessed the depth of his darkness either. More proof that money and success do not equal happiness.

Agree 100% with Plommer.

Daft, my mother is having problems with her back, she tells me the pain is 10/10 and needs perks to help with her suffering.

She had a back operation a few years ago and it fixed the problem obviously only temporarily. Most days she's laying in bed because any other position is too painful/uncomfortable. She is miserable and it hurts me very much to see her in such distress.

My mother will not be commiting suicide but I know many people would consider it an option in her situation.

Back pain sucks. Sorry to hear. What kind of surgery did she have? Has this pain just come on again suddenly or has it been going on for awhile?

REMEMBER GUYS PROTECT YOUR PENIS!!! I mean SPINE....having bouts of dyslexia lately.

IAG is thinking about the kok, how nice.

AS for mama plomma she has some condition, which I can't remember the name and had back surgery to fuse a disc.

So she was pain free for a few years until a few months ago.

She was telling me how her Red Hat friends suggested she smoke some pot to alleviate the pain and I said why not?

My position is that if it helps you then smoke your brains out. She's 70.
I want nothing more than for her to be comfortable in her old age.

She's pretty laid back already, would love to see how she acts when stoned.

Spinal Stenosis maybe? Degenerative Disc disease? My mom has had back problems for a while now. Takes Fenanyl patches, morphine and oxycodone. Sometimes decreased activity can add to it, but I'm sure she doesn't feel like doing much activity wise when in pain.

Has she been in to see a doctor to make sure she didn't reinjure the disc or does a fusion prevent that? I don't know exactly the purpose of a fusion.

I'm envisioning a bunch of red hatters sitting around with a bong. Funny image. Personally I would rather take the painkillers than pot for the pain if that will do it. Unless she is an experienced pot user. I don't know that 70 is the time to start if not.

my mom is in red hats

I don't THINK they smoke pot

but who knows

Canadian Red Hat broads smoke pot. Dunno aboot their American counterparts.

Actually, my mother told me back in the spring that she would be attending some event in August where pot would be available.

I think its great that the old broads are partying. Momma plomma was a bit of a square most of her life, never partied, drank or did drugs and has only been with one man, my father.
She was married at 20 and pregnant at 21.

If the Red Hat broads held an orgy I'd encourage her to participate, if she wanted to.

My mother goes for back surgery on the 18th. Same sort of situation. She's a wee bit older. PuckOff told her already that she should be smoking pot, but she won't go for it. Whatever. I think this surgery will be brutal for her. I think she's 74.
