I don't understand what happens. All day I'm going about my business, nothing unusual.

Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, I have a jagged fingernail. It's catching on things and my other fingers are constantly drawn to it.

What the fuck? Nothing was going on. One second I am going about my business with all smooth fingernails and - BLAMMO! - one is jagged. I try to think back on what was happening immediately prior and the answer is: nothing. There couldn't have been less going on with that fingernail. It was just floating in space.

There was no reason for anything.

That's why you need things straight forward as MuddCat said. Other wise you'd be dumbfounded. Fried to much. You're ears are probably to filled with grease to hear anything.

Or at least it was jagged. Then I took out the nail clippers and went snip and it was smooth again. But for a minute there . . .

I generally get queasy easily but I've seen a high-res close-up of his bone sticking out and it's more fascinating than gross.

What I found more upsetting about that incident was not necessarily the injury itself, but the reaction from the players on the court to witnessing that mess. It was immediate very real.
