I feel weird about something really nice I said a few days ago.

I was talking to someone I barely know. He was lamenting on a couple bad things that had happened in the last year. It really sucked and I said I was sorry to hear that.

Now I feel weird. I was so earnest. So nice. I barely know the guy.

Now it feels like I am just sitting here waiting to die.

You feel weird about being sincere? Or being polite? Or is it that you feel strangely that in the moment you felt so sincere? Often we say "I'm sorry" but don't really mean it. Really the appropriate response is "I feel bad for you." But that would be considered impolite by most.

At the store yesterday, Honeycrisp apples were $4.99 per pound. All the usual suspect apples - Macintosh, Gala, Delicious, Granny Smith etc. - were $1.99/pound.


What kind of a racket . . . ?
