I remember when I used to pitch songs to music publishers in the 90's, I would get a ton of rejections, and sometimes included in their standard form letter was a personalized comment about how something in the lyrics didn't make sense to them. Perhaps they feel there is a gap in the logic or maybe even a grammar/syntax error.
Here is what I want to say about that: Never mind that my lyrics make perfect sense - forget that - here's the thing ---> holy fuck, do you have any idea how many successful songs have grammatical issues or lyrics that don't totally follow a logical argument like some essay about free market economics? Like I appreciate that you are putting some effort into your rejection and I guess trying to help, and if the song doesn't work for you then that is fair enough, but this particular reason you're giving . . . how can you be connected to the music industry and not realize how much money has been made on songs with lyrics full of blithering nonsense, you massive fucking palooka?
Just wanted to get that off my chest.
