Random thoughts

How to get rid of gingivitis is the question of the moment. There is no shortage of ideas on the internet and, like so many things, looking into it can be as confusing as clarifying.

I got myself some antiseptic mouthwash yesterday and started swishing that around regularly. Too early to expect that to have any effect. I'll probably keep doing that although, in skimming over some of the internet info, some say mint mouthwash is what you really want. Like, real mint :dunno: Some articles talk about tongue scraping. There was one article supposedly by a hygienist that had a whole regimen involving gum massages with strategic parts of the toothbrush.

Bottom line, so far I have really only self-diagnosed. I need to take some time tomorrow to carefully consider the suggested treatments and decide who out there doesn't seem insane. I'll go from there. No doubt I will report here. Maybe I will even start a special gingivitis thread. I wouldn't put it past me.

I will say this: I have been brushing my teeth twice a day and flossing once a day without fail for a LONG time. Years. Can't remember when I didn't do that. However I haven't been to a dentist in years.

My last cleaning at the dentist went like this:

[20 minutes of silence]
Hygienist (w/ thick Asian accent) - You have gingivitis.
Me - :dunno:
Me (inner voice) - Your face is ugly.

I'm curious: did you have an obvious bubble or bubbles on your gums? Like did you know something was going on? Or was it some subtle thing only detectable by a well-trained Asian?

It doesn't hurt. It's been there quite awhile; I have just been ignoring it.

Seems like gingivitis based on my initial reading although possibly not. I will give it all a thorough looking into tomorrow.

Maybe I end up going to the dentist. I have a cracked tooth that should be dealt with anyway. I don't mind going at all; I just haven't had benefits for a long time.

p.s. sometimes a bubble can mean infection, even an abscess tooth/wound.
Does it hurt?

that was my initial thought.

was just dealing with dentists myself over the last month. They foking crooks here.

One guy tells me I have a bunch of cavities and gum thing. Sells me a bunch of procedures which I luckily bailed on early.
Havent had any pain or swelling until this fuck started doing fillings. Now the 2 teeth he filled hurt.
I only went in to get a wisdom tooth looked at that started crumpling bits(?)
long story, but I'll stop here.

But yeah I was reading up on it, and seems they mention gum swelling primarily related to abscess not gingivitis. :dunno:

Do you have any cavities or anything near the bubble?? Have you touched it? Keep with the mouth wash at the very least. It's good you don't mess with it though.

I would see another dentist. If you're teeth are hurting AFTER a filling, something has gone/been done wrong.
Dentists suck, finding a good one, and a nice one, is next to impossible IMO.

yeah I had that dentist look at it and then went to another. It mostly hurts when you put cold on it, it doesnt throb constantly or anything. They seem to be saying its common.

Oh yeah, my teeth, especially my fronts, can't take cold. Like I can't even breath through my mouth in the winter because the cold air hurts my teeth. It's hard for me to drink anything with ice in it, unless I use a straw. Forks, especially the cheap ones, make my fillings hurt if it comes in contact with them. Also leaves a funny taste in the mouth. Try some sensodyne (sp?) toothpaste, that may help.
