Random thoughts

Another day at the office. I'm on the right in the middle of the frame.

Because I'm old and I'm fascinated with apples:

The one on the left is a Braeburn (parent of the Jazz apple). The middle is a Jazz apple as is the right, but the right is organic.

As you can tell, I went grocery shopping. This is probably due to becoming too familiar with the Chinese food restaurant.

Massey Hall

In June 1976, Rush ended their 2112 tour with three sold-out concerts at Massey Hall, an historic event at an historic venue.

These shows were recorded for the double-live album All the World is a Stage - an album that broke the band in the U.S., becoming their first Top 40 Billboard hit and paving the way for a string of famous Rush live albums. It was a first for Rush, but not the first time singer/bassist Geddy Lee felt magic on the stage at Massey.

Geddy takes us on a tour inside the legendary concert hall and back to the 1970s to reminisce on how getting to watch Cream and Genesis rock Massey Hall as a star-struck teen set the stage for him to make rock music history there himself.

I have a Jazz apple in my possession as we speak. It looks quite a bit like the middle apple in the picture. I expect it will be a snack later this evening.

Muddy, you must chill before eating. It makes a huge difference. I think they're nasty as can be if not stuck in the fridge.

Oh! Well good thing you told me because I wouldn't have done that. I usually eat my apples room temp.

In the fridge it goes.

Are you feeling some personal responsibility for my enjoyment of my snack this evening? Are you feeling some pressure?

I'm a chilled apple kind of person, so I guess it really depends on your personal preference. I just think warm apples are icky.

I feel personally responsible for your choice in apples. When I go my favorite apple dealer (yes, I have a favorite dealer), I normally try the different "breeds" of apples. Jazz has been my favorite for a couple of years. One time, I bought a few of each kind of apple. $60 later, I think I might have had one before the apple monster that I was dating devoured everyone single one within a short time. He's ridiculous.

Honeycrisp apples are the most expensive but are one of the tastiest new type of apple.

Honeycrisp (Malus domestica 'Honeycrisp') is an apple cultivar developed at the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station's Horticultural Research Center at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Designated in 1960 as the MN 1711, and released in 1991, the Honeycrisp, once slated to be discarded, has rapidly become a prized commercial commodity, as its sweetness, firmness, and tartness make it an ideal apple for eating raw. The Honeycrisp also retains its pigment well and boasts a relatively long shelf life when stored in cool, dry conditions.[1]
