Compressors intended for inflating car and truck tires can provide so much air so quickly that you can damage a bicycle tire and perhaps even the rim.

Tips and Warnings

  • Carry a portable tire pump with you on your rides in case you need a quick refresher to get home.
  • Never fill your tires from the machine at the gas station. The air comes out too fast and can blow up your tires.

Funny you mention it. Because after a lifetime of bike riding and tire filling without ever an issue, there actually was one today. The gauge on the air machine was stuck. It would not go past 40 PSI - although the air kept pumping. Needed some WD40 or something.

I didn't realize it right away. I was standing there being guided by the gauge so I kept filling (I need 45 - 60 PSI) and it took awhile before I finally clued in that it wasn't going to go over 40 no matter what. I probably overfilled that first tire by quite a bit.

No big explosion or anything though.

Snowmobiling would be really fun if it wasn't so fucking cold.

Used to love it as a kid.

Grandpa MF used to let my brother and I take the snowmobiles and ATV's out whenever we wanted.

Plommer still loves it, I owned a sled years ago, nowadays it's more practical to rent when the urge arises.

Cold? Were you wearing shorts? When we ride the trails we make sure to dress appropriately.

Fuckin idiots. What they couldn't tell it was melting the first four times?!?!?!
They know it's melting, first dude was showing off, open water riding is a skill.
We would never try it.

Cami I'm just showing you Yanks what we do up here in Canuckistan from Sept 1 to May 31, pal.

I went on a snowmobile pub run a few years ago, you snowmobile to various bars. Looks beautiful and sounds fun but was actually quite miserable as the evening went on with the beer lowering body temperature and taking off helmets and gloves at every bar and getting wet, drunk, and cold.

Snomobiling without consuming alcohol is much more enjoyable.

Penalties for riding a snowmobile impaired are the same as for operating your car.
The police frown on it.
