I don't think I love Eric Clapton as much as I'm supposed to.

I like him just fine but it has been a periodic experience through my whole life that some people will invoke his name with god-like awe, expecting me to feel the same. It happened again today. Someone told me about a Pink Floyd concert where Clapton showed up and played with them and I'm pretty sure I was suppose to be freaked out in awesome wonder at the holy appearance.

My main thought was, "I'm a lot more interested in Pink Floyd's music than Eric Clapton's music but I doubt he would actually spoil it so that's fine."

I am in the camp that never cared for Eric, get nightmares of the cheesy version of After Midnight. Since you play guitar, i can see how you would have a very different view of him. Funny as I never cared much for Steve Winwood post-Traffic either. However I do like the dvd of them performing together.

I have many times heard people say that Clapton is the greatest guitarist in the world.

I hear that, I am all like

It doesn't stand out for me but I don't want to argue the point. I'm sure other people have a better idea what to look for in judging that stuff.


Don't get me wrong, I like the guy. He has some songs I enjoy. I always feel a kinship with recovering addicts and he is that.

I just don't have any extreme goofiness surrounding him.

Dunno. Area 51 is about 125 miles NW of Vegas and is long enough to handle a 747.

For those who don't know, Roswell, NM is just Roswell, NM.

We have shuttles (codename "Janet") which work as air buses that ship people to/from Area 51 all day long. They always get early procedure turns out of McCarran on 19L/R or 1L/R.

Obama could have landed there, took a shuttle, and then there's really no need to shut down the 7th busiest commercial airport in the country, even on a Wednesday afternoon.

We're off to go watch him take off.
