Marmalade? Do we like marmalade?

I don't think I like marmalade. It's been ages since I tried it. I know that oranges are involved and I do like a good orange - but a hazy memory is telling me something goes seriously wrong on the way to marmalade.
 
Here's something else which was a bit funny with my grocery shopping. I wanted to get some chicken and I saw halal chicken drumsticks.

Now a few feet over there were drumsticks that weren't halal. Here's the thing though - the halal were a considerably better price. Well a little better. Like a pack of ~9 drumstick was 6 bucks compared to $7.50.

But here's the other thing: I don't know in any kind of detail what the fok halal means. Like I know the general religious nonsense that god likes it better - like kosher or whatever - but I don't know in detail what actually has to happen to qualify. It looked the same.

I bought the non halal chicken.

Am I a racist?
 
In my defense, I just felt slightly unsure if there was some kind of spice added. But upon reading the wiki entry - it seems not.

If I face the same situation again, I will grab the halal chicken feeling generally confident it won't start ululating on the grill or taste like, I dunno, hummus?

It's weird the things that people decide their gods want. I mean, sometimes it's obvious. Someone who is insecure about their body and sexuality will make sure their god demands modesty of dress and is possibly a homophobe. Someone who is afraid of people with different colored skin will have a [insert worshipers skin color here] supremacist god.

Obviously.

But how do you get to random specifics like this:

This method of slaughtering animals consists of using a well-sharpened knife to make a swift, deep incision that cuts the front of the throat, the carotid artery, trachea, and jugular veins. The head of an animal that is slaughtered using halal methods is aligned with the qiblah. this is the prescribed method of slaughter for all meat sources, excluding fish and other sea-life
 
Hypnotism is weird. It seems like some people are hypnotizable and some aren't.

I really don't think I am. It seems ridiculous. How is swinging a watch in front of my eyes or just making suggestions in a soothing voice supposed to produce some kind of results?

But I guess it really sometimes does. People end up hypnotized.

I don't know.
