It's not nearly as bad as Europe where organized panhandling seems to be the norm. In Paris they have these gypsy women who approach tourists, pretending not to speak French. "Do you speak English?" in broken English.

Canada is large, reno. How is the homeless situation in Americaz?!? :bashing:

I can only talk for Montreal and Toronto. Apparently it's worse in Vancouver, where there's basically a whole neighborhood of hobos.

Montreal has lots of squeegee kids spread throughout the island.

Toronto mostly has beggars in the downtown core. The pros flock to those stores that don't actively kick them out.

There are a couple of big mental health facilities close to work so they're over-represented around my building.

Yeah that's pretty extreme. I asked my guy what he wanted and he specifically asked for a Big Mac.

Woulda felt good about myself had he not started begging the other people for "streetcar fare". Shoulda kept the meal and told him he could grab lunch at home once he raised his 3 bucks.

Don't fuck with my magnanimity.

Yeah I've seen them in New York. Again, should be misdemeanors. Driving is not easy as it is and they are hazards. Also squeegedudes don't come after me, it's just my opinion, let's just all move on with our day.

They're actually a useful service in Montreal, where people run out of washer fluid pretty quickly in the winter. I'd say 1 in 3 people let the squeegee kid do his/her thing.

thats the correct play, but hard to make right decision in the heat of the moment.

Graffiti buildings, trashed, people sleeping under Speer bridges, depression. Thats what struck me as a kid when 1st came here. Didn't see that on the postcards.
Funny that Soviet Union is portrayed here as grey and somber. :dunno:

I hear you RC, but probably the 1st time in your life you were able to take a crap in peace! Did you have to get a number like they do at the deli in supermarkets here? :dunno:

Don't know if you guys remember that I was at one time a low level security person here at GL working under Bread! Old outdated device RJ gave me went off in my sleep last night and just went back to bed! I will look into it and get back to you! It's been years but hopefully figure it out! I'm excited!
