Jon Oliver: The death penalty is like the McRib. When you can’t have it, it’s so tantalizing. But when they bring it back, you think, "This is ethically wrong."

That should have said my hair, if there is any doubt.

Yeah, I'll tell you what I think happened. I had some dandruff shampoo sitting there. Like for years. I seriously don't remember ever having dandruff in my life but I guess I bought some dandruff shampoo.

Power of advertising maybe? Maybe just an accidental absent-minded purchase. Who knows?

Anyway, I kept seeing it there and finally figured well fuck it, might as well use it. No reason not to that I could think of. It's just shampoo. And then I figured, might as well just keep using it till it's used up. So I upped the pace and used it with increasing frequency.

Well guess what: it makes my hair suck. Weird sorta greasy effect.

I mean, it's a bit early to draw definite conclusions and I'll continue to use the regular stuff and monitor, but that is my early leaning.

Smart money is on: I'll end up chucking the rest of the dandruff shampoo.

. . . is a train of thought I often have.

It's like, I have booked a week of vacation for early June. And I think about it. And my first thought is, shit, that is so far off. It will never come.

But then on further contemplation it's

It will come . . . and it will go

. . . and I will die.

Good day McBalls! We're doing brunch with friends-with-baby, and I got her The Honest Toddler's Guide To Parenting plus a gift certificate for a body scrub and massage at a nearby spa, with a handwritten message from JL who promises that Daddy and he will be good boys while she gets pampered.

Love you mommy,

A billion years from now will come. If earth still exists, it will probably be radically different. It is thought there might be just one big land mass as it was so long ago. The constellations will be completely different. Stars in constellations have no idea they are linked to those other stars by humans. They will continue to drift independently and explode and peter out as the case may be. A lot can happen in a billion years.

No one will be talking about Julius Caesar or the current batch of gods/prophets or Shakespeare.

It will come. A billion years from now is not a fanciful concept of science fiction. The passage of time ---> it's a thing.

A billion years from now will come so surely, it might as well be here right now.

I myself will be dead.
