seriously though probably is a product of upbringing. To me peanut butter is an odd food. I believe I still have most of the jar I bought 5 years ago. Cereal cold with milk, I bet you don't see too many Russians doing that. Oreo's, twinkees, forget about it.

Nutella, on the other hand was sold here at the local Russian food market long before I saw it at the supermarket.

Nutella is pretty good but I love all things peanut, especially fresh peanut butter, legumes are very healthy. Pecan and cashews too, All those great peanut satay sauces in thai and all the asian dishes, peanut brittle, barbecued peanuts, peanuts at games with beer or in those old glass coke bottles, boiled peanuts, peanut butter pie and even peanut soups.

We are lucky to live in the new world with the amazing foods introduced from south america and the warmer climates in the north american regions. Pretty impressive hemisphere for foods and our weather

Some foods from the new world

Corn

Potato

Tomato

Cacoa (chocolate)

coca and yayo

Avocado

Peanuts

Pecan

cashews

Sunflower

Vanilla

Squash

Blueberry

Pineapple

I used to work with a family that had a girl from the Czech Republic. She had never had peanut butter prior to coming to the States. Is it not something that's common?

I do not think peanut butter is a very common thing in other countries. My mother was telling me it's not something she can find in france, she used to buy a bunch of stuff when she would come to the states to take back with her because she couldn't find it anywhere in France. I guess she finally found a little market that sells some American products. They don't eat Corn...specifically corn on the cob either, they view corn as animal food, not something meant for people to eat.
