Yeah I actually found the Vinyl premier pretty weak and the show was hanging by a thread for most of the season. Only the the last couple or 3 episodes did I stop having dumping it on my mind all the time.

So if you liked that premier I imagine this will be an enjoyable experience for you.

Although I have a hard time understanding how this chick keeps getting significant roles

Gotta follow up and say: after 4 episodes of Billions, Maggie Siff is really pretty respectable. Good even. I watched a couple seasons of Sons of Anarchy where she was hilariously bad - and she was a complete block of wood in a minor arc in Mad Men - so I jumped to judgement as soon as I saw she was in Billions.

But no, she's alright.
