A Serious Man (2009) - Seems to me this is the forgotten/overlooked Coen Brothers movie.

And rightly so IMO. I like it - it has that Coen Bros. sensibility and I give it a clear thumbs up - still, it is lacking something and belongs at the low end of the Coen spectrum. Not entirely baked. Particularly weak unsatisfying ending IMO.

6.9 out of 10

despite Matty's caca claims

Claims? Nigga this shit's been peer-reviewed, published in numerous academic journals, showered with Nobel prizes, and it is now part of of the Western canon. Dexter is a steaming pile of shit (Rainville 2012)

I'm working on a new thesis now, tentatively titled Homeland is for millenials who have yet to figure out that they're being served 24's microwaved leftovers.

Took in 2 reviews for Les Miserables. One was pretty much a rave and gave it an A rating, the other was pretty much a pan and gave it 1.5 stars out of 4.

Historically, I have more trust in the critic who panned.

Although I have to say, his reasons for panning were not the factors that I have been fearing.

They both seemed to agree that Anne Hathaway was either the top contender or a lock for Supporting Actress Oscar.

Couldn't sleep well the other night and "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints staring Shia Lebeoufe was on. I was drifting in and out of sleep so I didn't see all of it. It wasn't the worst movie I have seen. I just don't have much to say about this one. The flash backs to the teen years in NY with the violence at times were interesting, it had moments where it felt like I was watching a reality show. It does an ok job of showing how one gets stuck, and then finds the desire to leave. I didn't find the relationship between the main character and his parents to be realistic, maybe that is how it is for some people, but to me it felt more like a group of mob/mofia members talking to the head honcho so to speak. I can tell you this is something I do not think I would watch again. I'll give it 4.5 Camistars out of 10. Maybe my views on it would be different if I watched it from beginning to end. which I doubt I will do.

THE WATCH

with Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn

did this movie almost come out right before the whole trevyon martin deal and get pushed back?

just watched it on redbox

.5 out of 10 stars

The wife of Ben Stiller's Character's wife, with a hook nose is kinda hot, but not as hot as the tall blackish British Jemaine Clement guy!!!

A Serious Man was just meh.

Watched a Swedish subtitled vampire movie last night. Was not looking forward to it. Absolutely loved it. Like for real real.

Let the Right One In. Wow.

How had I never seen Face/Off? OMG! OMGOMGOMG!! Wow. Between that and A Vampire's Kiss, Harley Davidson & The Marlboro Man and the remake of Universal Soldier, it's been a great movie month for me. :touchingmyself:

Let the Right One In was alright but my strongest memory was a scene where a bunch of cats attacked this chick. It was all supposed to be so dark and serious but it just looked wrong and I laughed so hard I had to pause the thing until I could regain my composure.

TED starts out good them it inexplicably turns into formulaic bullshit. 5 Matty Rains

Funny anecdote - the GF picked it over Bad Santa cause she doesn't like dirty humor.

Me - You're making me watch a movie in which Marky Mark and his talking teddy bear do coke with Flash Gordon. You're a baaaad influence.
GF - I'm sorry!
