I finished up season 1 of Mozart in the Jungle.

It's aw'ight. I will continue with season 2.

One thing I had in the back of my mind the whole time was Fun-Size from work complaining when it won the Comedy Emmy over Orange is the New Black. Fun-Size has not seen Mozart but she enjoyed Orange a lot so she went ahead and took a pretty strong stand that choosing Mozart over it was a bad call.

My verdict: I would have voted for Mozart over Orange. It would be close though. They are both comedies that are not particularly funny. Generally the harder they try, the less funny they are. But they are both watchable. Maybe I give Mozart the edge because it's about a symphony orchestra which is high falutin'.

Both mid 6 type shows. Maybe that's even too generous. Ehh, whatever.

Actually no, on deeper consideration, Orange is a better show. The high-falutin'-ness of the Mozart set-up does create a false impression of quality.

The story-lines actually flounder quite a bit and the lead is a conspicuously mediocre actress.

Okay that's better. Carry on.

Although I have to say - regarding Better Call Saul - they went too far. It was all great and they had a nice idea with the meeting with Jimmy representing dudeguy with the cops. Funny and on point.

They should have just left it but they took it too far. i.e. - very slight spoiler alert - the actual making of a video was too absurd and not necessary.

Shoulda backed off and left it a little more stylish and subtle.

Still a very good episode but I have that complaint.

That is all.
