ok, Rounders is a very bad movie gambling reality wise, possibly one of the worst ever. Yet I still found it somewhat entertaining.
Oh yeah, the accent was silly, unrealistic. More importantly, what kind of a Russian eats oreo cookies? Doesn't happen.

Seabiscuit is another movie that should be good but isn't, boring as fuck. They needed to make that more about the gamblers and less about all the other crap: depression, the honorable owner, talented jockey etc. If mr.X comes back to posting again you should ask him about Seabiscuit. :lmao:

Here's a better question: why would you want to see more about gamblers? You like gamblers? You think gamblers are interesting? Go over to SBRforum and you can swim in an ocean of those amazing, smart, fascinating creatures.

Walk into a casino and just feel your IQ rising due to the proximity of the brilliance which is gamblers.
 
Because its real life. And it's a life I've lived. Racing is nothing without gamblers and I wish that industry would embrace its patrons and start treating them with respect.
Many fascinating, humorous characters are found at a track. Someone could make a worthwhile, telling movie about the life and times based on just a fraction of the characters I've known.
 
You are romanticizing. Gamblers suck.




American Beauty was on my shortlist. I have it rated 9 at imdb.

What I did to compile the list was take my 10's (which was the top 3 or 4), then I picked from the 9's. I have about twice as many 9's as I needed so I had to filter by various means. Some movies I could not pick just because they were not fresh in my mind at all (Catch-22, The Adventures of Robin Hood). Some I know were like 8.6's and so they legitimately would not be top 15 (The Usual Suspects, Say Anything).

From the rest, I made the list. There are a few more Oscar winners like American Beauty that probably belong if I was totally serious but I think I also wanted a not-completely-boring list of obvious choices.
