We are digging Better Call Saul. It's no Breaking Bad and it's not going to be, but the lead is just hilarious to us and a lot of the conversations/language/situations will appeal to salesy dudes and dudettes like camicon.

Good shit.

Off the top of my head but “Better Call Saul” jumps back to 2002, we learn that Jimmy is already an underhanded lawyer trying to make a living off of wrongdoers. The clients whom he pursues have embezzled a million dollars; they haven’t killed anyone. Still, he knows they’re guilty, and he hatches a variety of shady schemes to get their business. As the show unfolds, we may see the last traces of his dignity and his conscience sanded away, and he may begin to facilitate crime rather than merely stalk its perpetrators in search of billable hours. And, of course, he will change his name. But he’s basically already that guy.

Yeah that's the whole thing. The character development. It's a proper prequel and will explain how someone ended up the way we came to know them.

I don't expect it to be as good as Breaking Bad (but, pending a BB rewatch, only 4 or 5 shows in the history of TV are).

Apparently Jon Stewart announced last night he is leaving the Daily Show.

:fok:

I haven't seen it yet as I always watch it next day with dinner.

I can't even imagine a replacement. I basically just think of it as The Jon Stewart Show.

I guess I would give whoever they try a shot. I'd sorta say lure John Oliver back - except then I would lose his show.

I would hope it's not Jason Jones. Small doses only with that guy. Kinda feel the same about Lewis Black. Same for Larry Wilmore. Holy fok it better not be Samantha Bee or that new guy Jordan Klepper (??). Asif Mandvi might work??

What about this ---> Brian Williams!!!!

Some other possible replacements being bandied about

Chelsea Handler
Amy Poehler
Tina Fey
John Hodgman
Amy Schumer
Craig Ferguson
Craig Kilborn
Daniel Tosh
Jessica Williams - (Holy fok NO!!)
Aisha Tyler
Chris Rock

Many others. Some I've never heard of.

I could see Tosh working quite well, but not in the same exact format. If he tweaks things to fit his lighter/trashier style, sure.

Either way it's the perfect time for Stewart to leave. John Oliver is thoroughly out-Stewarting Stewart with his show.

It will be interesting to see how much of the show's strength all this time has been writing and how much has been Stewart.

There is no doubt the writing is very good independent of Stewart. Still, there are quite a few names I am seeing that would pretty much amount to chasing me away even with excellent writing - personalities I just don't want to look at.
