Predestination (2014) - Can't say too much about this without spoiling it. In a weird coincidence, the same actor plays a scientist working on time-travel-related stuff in both this movie and Edge of Tomorrow.

Great visuals but slow pace - the screenplay is based off of a 13-page short story, so they had to stretch the sauce a fair bit. Ethan Hawke and the lead actress are terrific.

Recommended to all but ADHD types.

So the news - mainly for Canadians I imagine - is the Corner Gas movie will screen in select Cineplex theatres across Canada from Wednesday to Sunday.

After the movie's theatrical run, it will air on The Movie Network Dec. 8, on CTV and CTV Two Dec. 17 and on The Comedy Network Dec. 22. The DVD will be released before the holidays.

Guess I'll have to watch that somewheres along the line.

Thanks for the sci-fi reviews, Matty. Grabbing both of those.

I've been putting off watching St. Vincent because it looked like a formulaic piece of shit.

I watched it on the plane. It was a pretty likeable formulaic piece of shit, and it ends with Bill Murray singing along to the Shelter From the Storm, so I'll give it a recommend.

Bonus points for not over-proselytizing against gambling and drinking, which I was sure that it was going to do.

I feel like anything on FX is usually a safe bet. Although I was pretty disappointed with one of their latest series; The Strain. It started off really cool but as the season neared the end it was just another hybrid vampire show, that bored me to death.
Tyrant and Fargo were both pretty good and entertaining tho, among the now signature shows of FX such as SOA and I think they are sharing The Walking Dead series with AMC.

I have seen The Philadelphia Story. I'd kinda guess your mom has too, although I wouldn't see that as a problem. It's the kind of movie that people like to see more than once. It's considered a classic.

Like most oldies, I don't love it as much as the masses. But it's fine. Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart are reliably lovable. I am on the low end of Katherine Hepburn fandom but most people are happy with her.

Most moms would find it completely charming.

It looks like we aren't going to go see it but I appreciate you taking the time to weigh in on it.
