I heard a comment recently about Dakota Fanning which I found very interesting as I was a huge fan of her as a child actor. Like seriously, I thought she was maybe the best I had ever seen and I had visions of a magnificent future.

Wish I could remember who said it - some movie critic who would see most things she is in anyway - the gist was that the unwavering assurance she had as a child actor seems to be evaporating and she is growing more tentative and self-conscious.

I haven't actually seen her in anything for a few years so I don't know how much I agree. If true, that's too bad.

Muddy, I think what it is, is that she is changing, she's not a child anymore, but not yet an adult, she's in transition. I think for someone with such an astounding past, It must be hard to adjust and to change the way she presents herself. I think she may have a couple of not so great years, and hopefully will blossom into a good adult actor. I mean, in all fairness, she is going through personal and physical changes, at an age where she is trying to find herself, and yet is expected to portray something different....that can't be easy.

As for the movies, I agree, night moves was very realistic. It wasn't action packed, but not totally boring either, just realistic. I was disappointed I didn't get to see the damn explode. I was slightly surprised by his "families" loyalty, in that they didn't turn him in, I was not surprised the girl got silenced, I was disappointed in the ending though. I thought I was going to see how the discovery of her body would turn out, or that I'd see him wonder off into the unknown. Perhaps I missed something in the beginning, but I didn't really get what the point was of them destroying ONE damn. I understand why, and the possible consequences, but why just one? Over all though, I though it was a very well done move, and would give it a solid 7 based on actors performances, and the realisticness of the film.

As for Begin Again, what can I say, I am a sucker for a romance, and any sort of happy ending. It's a guilty pleasure of mine. I liked how they made their album..that was a very neat idea. I thought the producer man, and the girl would, or had, fallen in love, and be together, but that didn't happen. I understand why they did the flash backs, and showed how the main characters eventually met, but I thought it could have been done better. I personally like when flash backs of two separate lives are done at the same time, and then show at the same time how they met...either way though, they got the story across. I felt the main female character, and her way of bonding/fixing the males characters daughter was a bit cheesy, in the way that it's been done and thought about a million times, but I guess there are only so many ways to go about that kind of thing. For the most part I liked the ending...they didn't even have to go into much detail, and you just understood where everyone was at. I love a good romance/feel good movie, but for me, not one of the best, all in all though, I would give this one a 6.4, not the worst, I wouldn't seek it out again on my own, but if I came across it again, I'd watch it again.

Are you there MrX? Have you watched The Knick?

You mentioned having an interest in the history of medical practices. Seems like there is more and more of that as the season goes along.

Without that, it's a very good show IMO - but that part of it is fascinating.

Checked out not 1 but 2 new shows this evening from the Fox Sunday night line-up.

Brooklyn 99 - I almost made it through the whole episode. Only because I tell myself I need to keep an open mind and give it a fair shot. I was thinking of packing it in within a minute. But I hung in there. But no.

Mulaney - It was a little easier to make it through the first minute. Did not quite finish the episode though. Many issues. Terrible acting in this one. Really strikingly bad. People doing comedy who shouldn't be doing comedy. But there are more issues than just that.

Godawful stuff all around.

It did feel like maybe that's they were thinking. Perhaps dreaming would be a better word.

It started with a bit of standup - which was actually okay. A couple chuckles in there. It would be the last chuckling I would do for half an hour.

I also discovered that Brooklyn 99 is not a new show. Just new in that timeslot. I had never heard of it. It actually has 2 seasons listed on imdb and is rated 8.2.

Jesus fuck.

I think we have to backtrack with Boardwalk Empire, feel lost watching it. What the f is going on?!

A bunch of things. I could explain any of them if you have a specific question but I don't want to start explaining ALL of them.

Bunch of stuff. Many plotlines. I just kinda turn it on and let it wash over me and - BOOM! - the hour is gone.

After a very formulaic, conventional season 3, it has taken more of a sublime approach for the last season and a bit.

The big addition this season is the Nucky back story. Add that to ~10 other threads.

I like it. It's a good notch below my all-time favorite shows but it's probably like 5th or 6th for dramas for me. I dig it.

I haven't watched it, yet, but I'm going to.
