I know I'm not the first to say it but The Monuments Men (2014) was a pretty big disappointment.
I don't know what happened there. It started with a jaunty Disney-ish theme song that was all wrong and just never quite got in stride.

So weird for a George Clooney written/directed/produced project to be so broad and guileless.

It falls so far below expectations it feels like a thumbs down but just looking objectively at it, I guess not.

^^^movie flat out sucked...

jennifer love hewitt is fucking brutal to watch on the new Criminal Minds... (looks like a slob too... sorry vegasdave :imsorry: )

Stalker was okay... typical "who done it" show

Forever is quite entertaining... in a sherlock type of way

Gone Girl getting very mixed reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

The female lead is HOT.

I thought Rosamund Pike was the lead but the hotness part is throwing me off. Don't know if you are talking about someone else in the movie or we just differ on that particular subjective matter.

I saw Rosamund Pike in one other thing, Barney's Version. Her acting was really weak. I guess that is another subjective matter but for me it was WOW, what is that person doing in a movie?

I rewatch The Sopranos and I think this is best show of all time.

Then I rewatch The Wire and I think, okay, this is the best show of all time.

Now I am rewatching Deadwood and I am thinking this - THIS - is the greatest show of all time.

I imagine if/when get to rewatching The Sopranos again and I am in the midst of it, I will think it is the greatest show again.

:dunno:

But as of today ---> Deadwood.

(Those who doubt me suck cock by choice. :handshake: )

On deeper contemplation, The Monuments Men is a bit of a thumbs down. I could balance the screamingly predictable turns and awkward contrivances against the generally interesting subject matter which I had never really heard discussed before.

But the unbearable Cate Blanchett character is the tipping point.

4.9 out of 10.

Watched Sex Tape last night

yawner, but not the worst. haven't found diaz hot in a long time which doesn't help. Segel does what he can with a bad script. I want to age like Rob Lowe.

5.5 clouds

it was not at all what I expected or thought it would be. There a few moments I giggled, and I always enjoy Segel. This is more so a movie for parents, I don't think any childless people will get it in the same way parents would. I'd give it a 6.2.

Flock of bad flicks lately. What is going to break the streak?

Begin Again - pop music culture flick. The whole nine yards of that culture including Adam Lavigne as the ex. Some ok moments but very cheesyweezy. 5.3 baconbones. If I were a 14 year old girl I think I would have liked that much better.

Night Moves with the Social Network guey and Dakota Fanning. Dakota is older now - and annoying in her sarcasm humor attempts - and Bacon loves sarcastic humor as you know. Seemed like it would be cool. It wasn't, it was boring. 5.6 baconballs

Looking forward to this, though Woody Allen flicks mostly bore me. Plus you know I very much disagree with his "ways" Love the lead in this though.

This looks cool too  :

Maybe Depp's Transcendence but the prediction is that Cami goes that alone after baconballs passes out

I liked Night Moves.

Slowly paced, but it should be. I appreciate it when a movie is ballsy enough to not have a hero and to leave its characters complicated, like real people. I couldn't have black-or-white feelings for any of the characters. That's pretty rare.

Night Moves felt very real to me and built a lot of tension, without the use of unrealistic dialogue and action. I liked it quite a bit.
