Ouch: http://thedissolve.com/reviews/1025-sin-city-a-dame-to-kill-for/

It’s [...] difficult to overstate the utter worthlessness and repulsiveness of the film’s late-in-the-works sequel, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, and how hateful, stupid, and misogynistic it is in every facet of its storytelling. It’s so egregiously awful, so utterly without merit, that it makes its predecessor seem much worse by association. The film’s brainless, chest-beating brand of hyper-pulp calls into question whether Sin City was any good at all, or whether the novelty of its visuals and storytelling merely masked a howling nothingness at its core.

Well, a review is one thing. So that guy didn't like it. I could show you a prominent reviewer who gave it an A. Most of what I saw was middle-of-the-road.

But box office is something else. The original grossed 29.1 million opening weekend.

Versus 6.5 million? I call that a dip.

I guess the chances of a part 3 are in some jeopardy.

I want to see Boyhood but never make it.

Ticker is amazing.

FDR American Badass was great. Clever minus a few poop jokes.

I get blown away by filmmakers talents often. I love it.

Just started Arrested Development and get more sucked in every episode. Any thoughts on that?

I love Arrested Development. The original run was great - went through it a few times - and then the 4th (?) season on Netflix, which some were critical of, I also enjoyed. It might have been a notch below but still good. Only saw it once.

Come to think of it, I downloaded it and I still have it saved. Might take another run through it in the next while.

But overall ---> one of the best comedy shows of my time IMO.

Hmm, I don't even remember for sure. The thing with the final season was it was all strategically done around the schedules of the individual actors. So rather than a traditional ensemble where everyone was in every episode, there would be an episode focused on Lindsay and an episode focused on George Michael or JOB etc etc. And then they might not appear at all in half the episodes.

Sounds kinda cockamamie and I was leery going into it because I was aware of that structure - but anyway, they did good creative work to pull it together within the constraints.

Now Jason Bateman might have been the one guy who was in all of them. He might have been the glue. I kind of think that's right but I'm not positive. Need to look at it all again.

I hear True Blood wrapped up last night. I actually watched a couple seasons of it, seems like a hundred years ago.

But just had its finale last night.

Sounds like some devotees are dissatisfied with the direction they chose. Someone at work described it as the worst finale ever.

I wonder if it was worse than the Entourage finale. That might have my vote for worst finale ever.

I might come up with something more egregious if I set my mind to it but man that was a bad finale.
