When I think of Richard Linklater I think of Waking Life - which looked very interesting but got all kinds of credit for dialogue that I found incredibly dull and ended up being a rare film which I did not even watch to the end - A Scanner Darkly - same look but quite a bit better - Before Sunrise - which was a lot of lesbians eating pudding.

School of Rock was pretty good. The Newton Boys was forgettable (as was Dazed and Confused for me).

All my monstrous cynicism aside, I actually think Boyhood will probably be pretty good. Looking forward to it.

I say Chef in the theater the other day. Truly one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen in awhile.

Couldn't be a more simple, straightforward story. Excellent dialogue, solid performances, compelling characters.

Great stuff all around if you don't need plot twists and surprise endings.

New series Sensitive Skin starring Kim Cattrall is premiering tonight. It's on HBO Canada here, but I don't think it's actually, like, an HBO show, if that makes any sense. Seems very Canadian. It's a 6 episode first season based on some British thing.

Description reads, "Half hour comedy about a woman going through a midlife crisis."

I am taping it with low expectations.

Back to the Future 2 - Every time I watch, I notice something new that the movie actually got right - last time it was the PRS guitar (PRS made it big in the late 90's/early 00's and is now part of the Big Three with Fender and Gibson), and this time it was... Google Glass! Marty's "daughter", played by Michael J. Fox himself, answers a phone call with her glasses that also have a built-in display.

Well played, Hollywood.

Haven't seen it. Chicky-poo is getting a lot of love though. People are trying to set up a Jennifer Lawrence versus Shailene Woodley rivalry. I guess they are of comparable age and appearance and get into similar roles. They seem likely to be bumping into each other for a long time to come.

People want it to be a thing.

I myself vote for Shailene Woodley
