When you have to use killings and other cheap tricks to spice up the show, you're dead to me. Same reason I gave up on The Walking Dead, Homeland and countless others. Glorified jangling of the keys in front of the dumb masses.

At least GoT set itself in a fantasy medieval-type of setting where killings are part of the daily routine.

Plus like Mudcat mentioned HoC had become a bit of a farce by the end of Season 1. I enjoyed most of Season 1, thought it was very strong. But I'm done. Quitting while the show is ahead.

I often hear/use this complete suspension of disbelief vs. Partial suspension if disbelief argument for tv/movie critiques. And while even my own track record aligns with it - specifically GoT, HOC and Homeland - I feel like I can't believe this rationale. Feels like a cop out whenever I use it... I don't have a better explanation why... but im still not satisfied..

I don't mind shows that require a complete suspension of disbelief (Fargo is a good example). I think it's when a show's gimmicks start being too transparent that I get turned off.

But I'm not too sure how to explain it either.

I totally understand how someone would give up on Mad Men because the show recycles the same situations over and over, but I can't get enough of it for whatever reason.

I think transparency is a major piece to the puzzle. Homeland for example, I said to my wife, "she's gonna sleep with him in this episode." She did, and I was done. It's not that I dont like unrealistic sexual pairings in my tv... its that it was so damn obvious. I guess its the skill in writing as well as the content.. hrmmm

Awe, my little vagina is growing up! I am so proud of you Matty! I will cut you some slack.

How long did it take you? You haven't broken any of your new tools yet, have you?

Quite a while, about two hours just for 4 shims. I didn't want to use too much force to get the shims out of their buckets since I'd never done it before. Then I had an oil leak after I put the valve cover gasket back on so it had to come off again so I could run a bead of silicone around the corners.

Haven't broken anything since that socket. I just got a set of fancy flex-head ratcheting combo wrenches, these things are amazing: http://www.gearwrench.com/wrenches/...combination-ratcheting-wrench-set-metric.html (I paid 50 bucks, not 140)
