So Stephen Colbert is taking over for Letterman. Not that it will have much effect on my life in any case, but my question is: will he continue to do non-stop shtick or will he actually relax and be a person?

Is there even a person in there? If so, is it an appealing person?

No idea.

Checked out the premier of AMC's Turn.

Not getting 'er done for me. Pass.

I made it all the way through episode 1 so I'll continue with it until I'm bored. I admit the pilot was a bit slower than I would have liked but didn't at all think it was bad. Anyway I'm sticking it out for now and if it gets good will let you know.

^^^ill give it 2-3 eps. because of the way ep.1 ended... but it looks dim for that one... the canadian shows, 19-2 and motive are still hanging in there...actually, 19-2 is really good shit... resurrection has lost me and believe might have another ep or 2 left...

ive been watching the Gran Hotel ..(grand hotel) .. its a spanish drama with eng. subs... one ep and you will be hooked... something mrs.monkey would really like, imo.

..............

Grand Hotel, which is called Gran Hotel in its native Spain, has proved to be a hit with home audiences, consistently raking in high viewing figures and winning several TV awards. Set in 1905, the series has earned the nickname the 'Spanish Downton Abbey' because of its lavish sets and complex plots, which draw comparisons with the hit ITV period drama.Grand Hotel follows the story of a man who is searching for the truth behind his sister's disappearance and so travels to the idyllic hotel where she was working when she vanished. There, he enters into a relationship with one of the daughters of the hotel owners, who helps him with his investigations.

I have decided that I consider Stephen Colbert to be a bad choice to replace Letterman. I think because he comes from my beloved Daily Show that I tend to be an apologist for him but the truth is, I found The Colbert Report to be unwatchable. Oversimplification of course but here I go anyway: it was one big, really bad comedic decision. Basically it was one main joke - and it wasn't a great joke to begin with - marginal joke - repeated non-stop for 9 years (or whatever it has been).

And I don't think he has much of a personality of his own. I could see him doing okay in some peripheral movie roles if his career went in that direction. Character actor. But everyday talk show host? Bad candidate IMO.

I'm unlikely to watch no matter who it is. I don't think it's just me; I think the niche of the latenight TV host in our society is in a state of continuous shrinkage right now.

I could be wrong about that. But anyway that's my 2 cents on that.
