I like American Horror Story. The second season is completely unrelated to the first season. The first season focused on "The Murder House" while the second will deal with an Asylum instead. I had to attempt watching the first episode a few times before I could sit through it all the way. It gets better.

Well, I'm on season 5 of The Wire. I think I'm done though. The writing turned to shit. Season four was excellent.

But the financial shit and watching McNulty try to create a serial murderer? Fuck that.

Excellent show through the first four seasons though.

I think I've exhausted my TV viewing for another five years or so now.... I can't watch the crap that passes as mediocre these days.

Agree, they should have ended it on the 4th season.

I'm curious: did they kill off or in some way dispatch the mom? (Connie Britten) She had top billing in the episode I saw, but now I see she is on the new show Nashville.

It would be very unusual for someone to have significant roles in 2 shows at once. Wot happened?

The second season has nothing to do with the first season. Each season focuses on a separate setting and a completely different cast of characters unrelated to the first. The woman that played the deranged neighbor in the first season is playing a nun in the second season.

It's really a confusing concept when you think of a TV series. You would expect there to be some kind of continuity. With the way the first season ended, there was no way that it could be continued as it was. A very disappointing ending, I might add - they appeared to want to tie everything up with a nice pretty bow after a series of twists and turns.

Just looking at some movie reviews for this week. Argo and Seven Psychopaths both got raves.

Man it's been a long time since I was out to the theater to see a movie. I guess The Muppets would be the most recent and then Inception before that (don't get me started on that).

I know what the next will be (barring something unexpected). I already have a date to see Les Miserables when that comes out.

But anyway Argo and seven Psychopaths look very promising.

I wanna see Seven Psychopaths.

Been slacking on this thread.

One of JCVD's best worst...Derailed. Gold.

Paranorman...awesome.

Samsara....beyond adjectives. Loved it so so much.

A whole buncha other stuff. Can't recall. But those are prominent. Holler back hooray.

A little while back I noticed that Inception was on TV. So I checked it out for 5 minutes. It was a scene where they were explaining the rules of Inception world. Then I flipped over half an hour later. It was a scene where they were explaining the rules of Inception world. Twenty minutes later I check in and they were explaining the rules of Inception world.

Nah, I dunno. It was okay. I think I rated it about 6.

Characterizing anti-Inception sentiment as snobby is an interesting twist. My observation has been that Inception fanboiz are the snobbish ones who are extremely self-congratulatory over their own superior intellect as proven by their ability to understand this movie while it is obviously over the head of anyone who doesn't like it.

Personally I found the concept rather simple. Over-engineered no doubt, but not to hard to understand. About a 1.5 minute explanation would have been sufficient for me. The prolonged explaining and re-explaining did kinda make me think, what kind of dense bulbs is this made for?

So I guess there was plenty of snobbery to go around.

Same.

I'm with Muddy on Inception; I thought the special effects, etc. were crazy but it did seem like it was making a not that complicated of a concept try to seem overly complicated. Not the accomplishment it was made out to be imo.

We got into some movies this weekend -

The Sitter - This is pretty stupid but if a flick has fat Jonah Hill in it I'll at least consider looking at it for cheap laughs. 5 Stevie Stars

25th Hour - In my attempt to show Cami what I consider the best movies of all time we watched this, just a brilliant effort including this classic scene. 9 Camistars

The Dictator - As much as I have enjoyed some of his other work I couldn't sit through ten minutes of this, just felt annoyed. N/A Steviestars

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - Finally gave this a watch. The best movie I have seen in a long, long time. Not very often you can have such a long movie that is so gripping that you just can't turn away. Classic movie, 9.5 Cougarbeers.

I don't know. I saw the original Swedish version soon before the American was released so I didn't really feel like watching the American since I had effectively just seen it. I had heard they were very similar in the way they present the story.

It's been awhile now so I could probably check out the American at some point.

They are based on a book trilogy and the two sequels are already done in Swedish. Not sure if they are planning American versions of those. Part 2 (The Girl Who Played with Fire) I thought was weak. Part 3 (The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest) was better but not as good as Dragon Tattoo.
