Prisoners looks excellent. I remember seeing the trailer for it and thinking "wow, that looks like it'd be really good". About that time, my wife said "I don't think that looks like a movie I'd ever want to see" (I think it's the "children in peril" thing Muddy mentioned). Well, shit. Guess I'm watching that one by myself once it's out on video.

I think people just approach the role of films in different ways. Some of the best films are deeply disturbing - necessarily so. I thought Requiem for a Dream was outstanding. But I didn't enjoy it, per se. It was intended to make you feel like shit, and it was successful in doing so.

I guess I could say the same about The Butterfly Affect. Deeply disturbing and fucked up..,not something I'd watch again but it was well done.

Lilyhammer

A sort of Sopranos spin off. Mafia dude gets relocated to Norway because he saw it on tv during the Olympics.

Really enjoyable. Speeding through the first season.

Authentic Scandanavian experience with sub-titles that are a pleasure to work with.

I was able to catch 2 pretty good thriller/horror movies over the weekend but neither really needs it's own write up or anything.

The Conjuring - 7.5 :cougarbait:
Insidious 2 - 7.0 :cougarbait:

Both very good, watchable intense thriller/horror movies.

Does it get better? I gave it 10 minutes and shut it off. The writing is so bad.

The characters are hit and miss and the story lines are fairly bland and obvious.. BUT its a great cultured show. You are completely immersed in Norway. Its feels original in that sense. The drama and comedy mix is pretty volatile.

Matty, give it another try. Some humorous pregnant/baby yoga/mid-wife stuff that I think you would relate to.

It does get a lot better. lol @ dumping the carcass in a hole in the ice. :lmao: Still, what a strange show. I get that Van Zandt is overacting on purpose so he clashes that much more with the realistic Norwegian setting, but something's off about it.

The first 10 minutes were atrocious, glad I went back to it though.
