I saw Gravity in 3D yesterday

Amazing film to look at (but I think I'm amazed more at space than the average person). I'd say my SAAR (Space Amazement Above Replacement) is like 8.7.

Clooney is WAY too obnoxiously witty (lol) especially considering the circumstances.

I'd give this movie 8.5 eye rolls out of 10 and an overall rating of 7.

I was just going to ask if anyone is watching Boardwalk Empire. It has been a curious season. I have loved it for the most part but it doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would be popular. It's very low-key and sublime. Unfocused.

South Park is okay but it has lost a step.

Ray Donovan has already had the whole first season. I'm not sure if it is coming back for a second. I would guess so. Mediocre show IMO.

Animal Odd Couples

Despite the odds, there are countless stories of the most unlikely cross-species relationships imaginable: a goat guiding a blind horse; a doe who regularly visits her Great Dane surrogate mother; a juvenile gibbon choosing to live with a family of capuchins, and so on. Instincts gone awry? The subject has mystified scientists for years. Now, NATURE investigates why animals form these special bonds. Informed by the observations of caregivers and noted scientists Temple Grandin and Marc Bekoff, the film explores what these relationships suggest about the nature of animal emotions.

Yeah me too. I guess Masters of Sex is what I have substituted. It basically started when BB ended. It's decent enough and I expect to keep watching but it just doesn't have that momentous feeling like BB.

At least I've still got Boardwalk Empire. I'm loving this season.

I really do find Alfred Hitchcock to be one of the most over-rated figures in film history.

People call him the master of suspense. I call him the master of contrivance. He has more eyeroll moments per square mile than just about anybody.

I don't say he's terrible; he has some films I give a thumbs up to. Nothing all-time great but a few okay efforts. But jayzuz, he could film flies circling around turds for 2 hours and there are people who would rate it 9 out of 10 at imdb.

Sounds like he was a pretty crappy guy too. Fuck him.

I rewatched Argo. That was my second viewing.

Lowered my rating from 8 to 7 (which, in reality, is a reduction from about 7.7 to 7.3 or something like that).

It's an interesting time in history and a good story but there is something hollow about this telling. I just feel beaten over the head with all the obvious devices. They are working so hard - and so transparently - to manipulate me when I would really just like to know what happened.

Nevertheless it is a good story from an interesting time in history.
