I don't think that's what Daft was saying.

The wording was ambiguous but I think and assume the intended meaning is that, from Don's point of view - for Don - a move to Peggy would be trading down.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct. Given Peggy's ugly mug, I'm not sure how anyone would think that Peggy was trading down to Don.

Don (for a 40-something) is extremely good looking.

I'll tell you who is looking pretty deluxe on the new season of Arrested Development though: Liza Minelli

Behind the Candelabra (2013) - We gabbed here about this and speculated on it's possible merits or lack thereof, so I figured I would take one for the team and actually watch it.

Here's the thing: who cares? Why are we making a movie about Liberace in 2013? It's not a badly done movie but the guy is footnote in entertainment history. Was he a fascinating monster? No. He comes off as a pretty normal guy. He did his shows and was mostly a homebody. He tried to stay in the closet. He had some cosmetic surgery. He talked about legally adopting his gay lover which is a bit weird but meh.

Steven Soderbergh claimed it was rejected by Hollywood for being too gay which I thought was absurd when I heard it and I still feel that way. It's gay but in the pantheon of Hollywood gayness, it's whatever.

Michael Douglas was very good. Matt Damon is solid as usual. The point could be made that he (Damon), being 40-something, was the wrong guy to play his character who was ages 17-27 over the course of the narrative. Maybe if I was more familiar with the real people I would have been put off by that but who the hell is familiar with the real people? He's a friend of a footnote from 30 years ago.

:dunno:
