The movie I was talking about being one of my favorites is called Always Outnumbered. I guess the picture didn't show up. The main character is played by Laurance Fishburne. And much like the Dude (Jeff Bridges) I don't particularly like him in anything else :dunno:

Lay The Favorite will check it out.

You want a good gambling movie.

I am finding Shameless pretty absorbing lately. It's a show that has always been on the fringe for me, more a killer of time than something I really look forward to and consider good.

It is a constant battle between authentic stuff and trying-too-hard-to-be-zany. Frank is the main conduit for the obvious cartoony stuff and he is my least favorite character. Debs has really developed into an interesting character this season. I'm liking Kev more and more. I always like Fiona.

I guess it's the plotline with Karen that has me particularly interested right now. I have been trying to come up with a guess of where they go with that and I just don't know.

I agree. I was just thinking similar thoughts after watching it last night.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Can you see the 2 gay kids eventually getting married and keeping the russian hookers baby?

Same here actually and not seeing the two gay dudes (well the one is marrying the whore now) go at it has helped Cami and Steves enjoy it more as well. Not that there's anything wrong with that I just do not want to see it.

We watched The Liability the other night. Tim Roth doesn't get enough credit, he's a great actor. Lie to me was a good show. This wasn't too great but it wasn't straight to video bad either, only really cheesed out at the end imo. 6 Camicolons

Oz the Great and Powerful - 5 minutes in, I knew I'd been suckered into watching some terrible Disney crapola. Told the GF my vertigo spells were back and I walked out. Went shopping for electronics instead.

:cripwalk:

I can't agree that Lie to Me was a good show. I totally agree that Roth is great. They should have been able to build something around him and the premise was very promising but (to my way of thinking) they blew it with a crappy supporting cast and cliche-riddled writing.

Phil Spector (2013) - HBO film written by David Mamet about the trial of the legendary music producer for the murder of Lana Clarkson.

Unlike so many movies that like to make a loud point that they are based on a true story (and then often only vaguely resemble actual events), this movie opens with a disclaimer that it is fiction and not based on a true story. Which is odd. It's obviously based on a true story.

I guess what they are trying to get at is it is very slanted. **SPOILERS**
They want to show that Spector, who was ultimately convicted, could not be guilty. And they succeed. It looks that way. At least there is plenty of reasonable doubt. I don't think the details are actually fictionalized, but I think they just left out a lot of stuff that supported the other side of the case.

I found it very interesting, all the moreso because I could not remember how the actual trial came out. I didn't pay much attention at the time. So it all seemed new to me.

I would have to do some research to understand to what extent I was being sold a bill of goods - perhaps I will do that - but it was a good watch.
