Harmony is on maternity leave till next Feb. and, based on my inside and intimate knowledge of her thinking, she is far from 100% to ever return.

Can't wait to check out the line-up of chix at the new place. They don't know what's about to hit 'em.

:mudder:

Today is deliver-the-news-to-all-my-coworkers day. I guess I'll be having the same conversation about 15 times all through the day.

Not looking forward to it. I realize there are people in the world with much bigger problems but all I can say is, bring on 5 o'clock and the long weekend.

There was some initial level of :fok: because I really have done a kickass job and I can't really be replaced. They are about to experience some pain.

But then he's completely understanding and happy for me. I'm going to be getting more money/vacation/benefits/opportunity. We're friends. He's happy for me.

In keeping with my observations going back to the beginnings of time, when you give notice of leaving a place, many people want to tell you how much they also want to leave. I had some of that including one woman who pulled me aside and very earnestly asked me to let her know if anything opened up where I will be working - and put in a good word. She asked me to keep her request confidential - just between the two of us - and I said of course.

And I said I would keep her request in mind.

But I probably won't.

Having said that, basically all I have done so far today is check the job postings that have landed in my inbox, and then deal with the many documents my new employer requires to be read and signed.

One interesting thing: in the official job offer notification, the salary is actually $700 more than we verbally agreed to.

Okay, if you insist. :dunno:

I got a phone message from Uline this afternoon.

Holy shit.

For those that don't know (which I imagine is everyone) Uline is a holy grail for warehouse workers in this area. Ridiculous salary + benefits + profit sharing. I have been firing off resumes to Uline for years.

Like as pleased as I am with my new job - Uline would be like 15+K more per year.

An extra $300 per week on top of the healthy top-up I am getting? Yes, I think I could go for that. I think I have to pursue that with all possible urgency.

It would definitely be shift work though. But still, gotta do the full-court press starting tomorrow morning.
