I hear ya, I'm fine with what we were offered. However people are pissed that the insulators, the guys that wrap the duct that we hang make more then us.

I understand that and you got to side with the majority ..... but from I know at least in NJ the different trades have union rates that are known before you get into that field of work! Is the initial beginning rate higher for insulators than say, you guys the hangers or did their hourly wage jump over you guys somewhere along the line?

It happened often at my old place. The most recent case: one of the VP's who was fired last October came back early this year to visit while the president (who fired him) was away. He was all emotional and shit. I openly stared at him with my best WTF face.

Furthermore non Union bids are not much lower then Union bids. More money just ends up in the non Union contractors pocket. It's an uneven share of the pie. Also injury rate is much higher on those jobs because members without representation aren't protected when told to do work in an unsafe manner. Pretty much all Union contractors and general contractors have guys in place to ensure work is being done in accordance with osha. For large scale endeavors like crane lifts and such a safety plan must be in and approved before work can even begin.

Yeah my question was rhetorical I guess. We had ex-people popping in to the previous job a bunch of times. A couple of them were people that got purged in a move that could not be interpreted in any way but, dude, you are the bottom of the barrel and we would rather have nothing than you.

But in they came. Hi guise!

Dude, have you just got nowhere in the world to be?
