You're perfectly justified in your hysteria. Electrical shit is nothing to fuck with. If something ever feels hot, and smells, then there is a problem, and if it doesn't get handled, could potentially lead to a fire, among other things. I am glad it is getting handled. I would not want you going about on the weekend not knowing whats going. I would say hold off on the Laundry, hard to tell what all in your home is affected, could be one thing, could be all of them. keep us posted.

Thanks. My optimism was short lived. Not sure what transpired. He said they are going to have to pull everything aprt and look at ALL the breakers. He said he talked to them and they said they would definitely be out, but couldn't give me an ETA. I guess he couldn't get ahold of the head guy. I'm hoping this puts a little pressure on them and at least they show up. When I ask if there is reason to worry...i.e., could this cause a fire?? They don't sound too assuring but don't come out and say Yes either. Well the one guy did but when I called him back and said it still smelled funny he acted like it was just some residual dust. Well, that's not the case, but unfortunately I don't know enough to talk intelligently about much more than the basics..which I have only recently learned.
 
I'm about to pack it in. Mom's issue yesterday is totally unrelated to this recent bout of laryngitis and throwing up. It just keeps coming. If my luck/life gets worse fuck it I'm calling some sort of agency for a few days. I CAN'T.

Cougar..Is this in my charts? Seems like you said something about something approaching my birthday. I'll have to find that. This is nuts.
 
Usually problems with breakers are just limited to that specific circuit...multiple breakers popping tell me you may have had a power surge. But that doesn't explain the smell as breakers should be sized to the wire and trip before the wire heats up...Unless your breakers are old...or not correctly sized.


Have you hung any pictures or anything like that lately...moved anything that draws any type of real electricity or anything of the sort?

The breakers are 48 years old. The guy was here and just replaced them all and found the ones that were burning up and showed me. That is where the smell was coming from. All wiring and electric would have been meticulous in this house when it was built...but it's 48 years old. I guess things just wear out. Like me. Right Now. Does that make sense to you House? The carpet cleaners blew 3 rooms out when they plugged in their machine yesterday. I should have asked him which ones the burned up ones were. Like I said, they did them all I think so should be no more issues. I guess I should go plug in the dehumidifier...that was the thing that started the whole deal...If something is going to go wrong..that would probably set things in motion.


Also some of the breakers were not tripping when getting hot...or the bulbs would go out but not tripped and I just thought lightbulbs were bad. I dunno. We do tend to leave a lot of lights on and two TVS always going...but over never used. ha. Unless I have some frozen fish or pizza in for 20 minutes here and there.

I expect things will not get better for you until after your birthday next year, might be a rough patch till then.

7 personal year that you enter after your birthday is a tricky one. Many times it starts out good but it's generally a time to keep to yourself, turn inward and learn something new. Travel can be good, but be aware of your surroundings, because bad things tend to happen in 7 personal years for no apparent reason. After your birthday in 2015 you will be a GOAT in a GOAT year and in an 8 personal year so I would expect to see some money influx. But being born on the 28th means you probably are already well off. Those born on the 28th or with bdays that add to 28 tend to attract wealth. You got a year to go.
