My brother lived in China for 2 years and from what he tells me nothing could be further from the truth.

We are a massively over privileged people when characterized against the backdrop of the rest of the world.

Most of us know no different though and live largely cocooned comfortably within the framework of what we believe to be our version of the truth.

China does not have your typical communism. The system is authoritarian capitalism and it has worked for them.

Advertising has played a huge role in popularity of personal computers and cell phones and bringing the prices down. If the pawns are suckered into buying stuff that they don't need then they are just collateral damage for the people who have real use for those things.
