$13 spent at McDonalds.

We had a begging guy wander by our table. Muttered something about wanting spare change to by bread. He had the clear look of a boozer or user of some kind.

I said my usual dismissive pass-thanks. It is my mantra for a million situations. Telemarketers. Solicitors set up by the exit of the grocery store. Jehovah's Witnesses.

Pass-thanks.----> on to instant ignore.

My sister gave him 2 bucks.

Not really a budget issue with me - more of an enabling issue that comes from my vast experience with addicts.

Enabling = not really helping, no matter how tender-hearted your intentions might be.

I did not get into a debate with my sister as to her rationale though. I'm sure it was fine. Different viewpoints. The world is full of grey areas.

I had a third-pounder Angus Burger meal and a coffee.

When I ordered, she asked me if I wanted various things. I imagined I was picking from a list that goes with the meal, but probably/maybe they were add-ons??? Bacon, cheese, dipping sauce and whatnot.

What can I say? She asked me if I wanted those things and I couldn't lie. I wanted them.

My honesty ---> it will be my complete undoing someday.

Meal was 11, coffee was 2.

I am a growing boy. :dunno:

The experience proved something: I am not totally invested in budget mode. I still have that old mentality of just-get-what-you-want.

Angus burger was the most tempting thing I saw ---> I went with it. There was no pragmatic weighing of options.

Bacon was offered. I went with it.

Still though, I am confident when I say I did not have a meal that expensive my whole first month of budgeting. So I'd say I am on the right general path.

Just did a small shop at No Frills. Got:

6 - chicken leg quarters
4 - nectarines
4 - tomatoes
1 - sweet onion
1 - 6-pack little Butterfingers bars
1 - pack of a 100 basket filters for coffemaker

It cost about the same as my lunch at McDonalds.
