John Gibbons is a complete idiot. Starts Mark Buehrle today. After he just started on Friday. Why? He wanted to get him to 200 innings to tie some ridiculous obscure record that no one besides Buehrle will ever remember. Consecutive seasons with 200 innings.

If you're 3 games under .500, go ahead and do ghey shit like that for personal marks. (Personally I say don't ever do ghey shit like that. If a guy doesn't earn a record through normal play, then no record. But whatever.)

But the Blue Jays are still in the running for the #1 seed which is not just a possible home field advantage in the second round, it also means that in the first round, you get the wildcard winner which has probably just burned its #1 starter.

It's an advantage. You are supposed to want every advantage.

9-0 Tampa in the first.

And they weren't the only team that was flippant on the HF advantage, i don't get the logic. See the Mets for further reference.

Seriously, if I was Mark Buehrle, I would have refused to take that start. What a puke-worthy, condescending gesture at the expense of team goals.

"No thanks Gibby. Maybe if the game is a blow-out one way or the other, we can think about it late-innings.

Oh well, at least everybody got those two games off to rest. Three days before they were going to have 3 days off anyway.

That's the main thing.

Hopefully David Price is okay for game 1 and isn't thrown off his rhythm by the unprecedented break between starts. Good thing we didn't use him on his regular rotation.

It's not like a couple more wins would have made any difference anyway.

John Gibbons = the Bill Buckner of managers.

On a positive note: I feel like I can go ahead and get the barbecue started. Don't need to remain glued to the TV for this situation.

The vast majority of managers over manage to justify their jobs. It's an epidemic. Dan Jennings routinely makes double switches that hurt his team later in the game. Tony Lolrussa. Dusty Baker. Matt Williams. The list goes on and on.

Ned Yost did everything in his power (over manage) last year to knock his own team out of the playoffs but the Royals survived despite him.

Gibbons is no different than is old school idiot counterparts.

Honk that bobo.

Shoulda prolly let Buehrle in no matter what. If you're gonna go ruhtard, go full ruhtard and allow the man to pitch 200 innings even if it means allowing 30 runs before he lucksacks his way to 6 outs.
