Uncharacteristic display there. Buncha things that haven't been happening, happen all at one.
Pitchers who have been solid and consistent are suddenly tossing BP or else walking guys. Some choppy fielding. I can't even remember the last time I saw throws like that from our infielders and suddenly ---> twice. Wild pitching in a run.
We've been spoiled with extremely competent baseball for quite awhile. Hopefully they got all that out of their system.
It is the worrisome Mark Buehrle today. His performance could have a significant bearing on his place in the staff from here on out. He'd have to be considered dangling tenuously at #5 starter as of RIGHT NOW.
Hoping he can do what he has done so many times since coming to Toronto. He shows temporary chinks in the armor and gets everyone worried and wondering if it's finally over for the aging slow-thrower ---> he comes in calm and smart and throws some solid ball - and makes himself unexpendable.
In this case, a solid finish to the season would make for some very tough decisions on post season rotation (if there is a post season).
I would like the Blue Jays to have some tough decisions of that nature.
Pennington has been exhibiting major suckage though. Guy is hitting .028 and a half - or whatever - so that's one thing - but suddenly he appears to have the yips on his throws. He's had like 4 really bad throws in the last 3 games. I wince every time the ball is hit in 2nd baseman territory now.
So we got Darwin Barney - who is great field (by reputation), no hit - at all - and not eligible for the post season anyway.
Hope Tulo can get back but I myself am not liking the tone of what I am hearing about him.
Speaking of low batting averages, Marco Estrada has the lowest batting average (against) for a starting pitcher in the American League. At least he did a few days ago.
